I settled on a Sako 85 7mm wsm

Thanks Jason. I do like the 7mm rem mag and the 7mm wby mag for some reason. It is a comfortable round to shoot in a lighter gun.

The 7mms will do anything the 300s will. Trust me.

However its all personal choice and you are the one spending the cash. So buy exactly what you want! and not what everyone else wants or suggests.

Game is shot and harvested with every cartridge you can think of and each different one in the eyes of the owner is better than the rest!!

rifles

I tend to agree. Ill be buying a heavier 300 win short mag. Any suggestions? I prfer the grips on the tikka sako but dont want the light weight. Does Weatherby make one? I need one with a narrower hand grip.

Go with the laminate stainless then. The Tikka T3 LS to SS is not much different in weight (3.1kg--6 13/16# for the LS) (2.9kg--6 3/8# for the SS), but the Sako model 85 SS to LS is a more. (3.2kg for the 300WM/3.0 for the 300WSM in the SS) and (3.4gr--7 1/2# for the WSM and 3.6kg--7 15/16# for the 300WM in the LS model)

I personally do not like the T3 synthetic stock thats why I bought the LS T3 rifles. The Sako m75SS synthetic stock does not sound or feel like "TUPPERWARE" and I have a few of them:D

As for reloading, the 300WM is the better way to go than the 300WSM.

Tommorrow I go pick up my Sako m75 Greywolf (was a new 25-06) with new barrel in 338-06AI :sniper:from Corlane's.:runaway::runaway::dancingbanana::D CANT WAIT!!!!! Been in the works since mid June.

Wow a grey wolf sounds nice. :)

Mackillan,

The Sako 85 is a sweet rifle. You'll enjoy it. The Zeiss is excellent optics. Again, you will like it. I have four WSMs (270, 7mm, 300 and 325). Without a doubt the 7mm will never be as popular as any of the other three. Nevertheless, it is a favorite of mine. It shoots 0.25" groups consistently with 160 grain Nosler AccuBonds at 2950. What's not to like. I have done load development for at least ten or so 300 WSMs, around seven 270 WSMs and five or so 325 WSMs. I have only done load development for two other 7mm WSMs other than my own. Without a doubt, the 7mm WSM is the easiest of the WSMs for load development. Sounds to me as if you have a winning combination, especially if you handload.

went with the 7mm Rem Mag beacuse of availablity of ammo and fears that the 7mmwsm would be phased out and because I have a few 7mm rem mags so can reload all:runaway: at once.

Me thinks you haven't really settled on anything. You jump around like a 'roo. ;)

I know of a Sako m85 Hunter Laminate Stainless (Greyolf) in 300WSM for sale and a 338 Federal....seen it this morning when I picked up my custom Sako m75 Greywolf.

Also know of a Sako m75 SS 7mmRM with VX2 scope for sale. Give me a PM
I personally prefer the model 75 stock over the model 85.

Well, which is it, the Stainless Synthetic, or the Wood Blued in your link???

Could do a bit of each and get a Wood/Stainless one.;)
