A fair-priced source would be heaven sent.. 2 3/4" - 3"

Anybody know a decent factory reloader for 12ga slugs? Where do you get your cheap-but-good slugs from?

Wow, just shy of $1 per! Is that good for bulk 12ga slugs?

I'm trying hard not to visualize smoking loonies ejecting from ports.

Besides some unforeseen sale of ammo.....you got to reload your own shells.
Buy a shotshell reloading press, powder, primers, wads, shells, a reloading data manual.
Room to place at least a table mounted press, not to mention a way to keep little curious hands away from these tools and safe/secure.
And that means investment into a lead mould for applicable shotgun slug & a casting pot, as well as a source of lead. As well as, a safely ventilated area for bullet casting, free from any potential fire hazard.

It takes some long period of time and dedication to this sport to eventually recover costs.
So what's cheaper for the average shooter/hunter?

I rather buy reloads from you than reload myself.

Any 12ga slug reloaders think it'll be worth their while?

There is a Lyman mould for cast slugs. Make your own, just like any other shotgun reloading. At $5 plus a box, that is just about as expensive as rifle cartridges.

Sorry my only 12 gauge mould is for .690 roundball.
Not the best choice for ballistic performance by any means.

That reminds me I recently found Remington foster type slugs I purchased in 1980ish.
They cost me $1.88 for a 5 pack on sale. Regular price was $2.85.

cheapest factory slugs around here are winchester standard rifled 2 3/4 15 rnd value pack for $13.99 i believe....

walmart is a good source for slug's.... think i paid approx $4 a box for winchester's...

ask your local gun shop if they will bring in a case of federal truball for you on a big order... some time's you can get very good priceing if you ask the rite questions and have cash :)

Seems like CDN Tire & Wal-Mart have decent slug prices. It's too bad not every store stocks ammo, like they should.

Federal Tru-ball seem to work the best out of my smooth bores. They are not too bad cost wise, but they are also about $1 per pop.

Round ball slugs shoot fairly well from smoothbore unchoked guns. They are easy to reload.

It's not a rifle, so be sensible as to distance, you'll have to practice at the range on paper.

On game they penetrate very deeply.
