What 22 rimfire could you suggest me?
I am using it in the field, but also for target pratice, i am hesitating between a Sako quad, and Cz 453 varmint.

Any other rimfire under 1000$ interests me also.

I've got a CZ, and I have a buddy with a Quad. The Quad is a nice rig, but my CZ Silhouette outshoots it, and was half the price.

I'd also consider getting a CZ452 and modifying or replacing the trigger, if you prefer a more conventional trigger over a set trigger as on the 453. I have a CZ452 American and I think its a great field rifle. Nice weight and shape of stock.

I think the CZ 452 or CZ 453 would be an excellent choice. CZ's are built very well, and are very accurate. My CZ will shoot around .4" so average at 50 yards with quality ammo. Definately nothing wrong with that in my opinion for a $450 gun. Furthermore, the style (which is the model I have) is great for taking out in the feild with a synthetic stock and nickel plated parrel, meaning you do not have to worry to much about the stock or barrel getting scratched, etc.

Browning T-Bolt

I am sitting on the fence wanting a new Browning T-Bolt. If you were to buy one you could test it out and do a range report on it. Then I would know if I really need it. LOL

Ruger 10/22. For the price, you can get exactly what you want cuz you can customize it from a very long list of options. I built mine for bench shooting, but will try some small game hunting shortly.

I have a 1967 Marlin 39a. When I shot it for the first time I was astonished at it's tack driving accuracy!

Only thing I don't like about it is it's trigger pull. Over 5 pounds. About the same as my CZ 511 and 10/22.

With my Anschutz 310, Anschutz Woodchucker, a Brno #1 and #5 I got 3.10-3.12 with all of them!

I have many more guns to go through but my Brno ZKW 465 .22 Hornet and Brno Fox 2 BOLT .222 Rem. get 1.1 lbs each and my Brno 21H 7x57mm Mauser gets 2.5 lbs. These all have double set triggers.

I haven't done anything to adjust these trigger pulls yet.

22

Winchester model 67 bolt action 27 inch barrel ,bolt loads shell (but you have to pull back cocking lever to arm it)great for young people to learn taking time to make thier shot(and with such a long sight radious it's a real tack driver). And they usually run less than 100,got mine for fifty bucks.

I also have a Winchester Model 67 single shot. You're right, it's a real tack driver. But also like, my Winchester Model 72 bolt action tubular repeater it has no provision for scope mounting. Ok for young sharp eyes that can see the sights.

Yes, you should buy a rimfire, and yes, .22 is a good caliber.:dancingbanana:

Seriously though, you need to decide what you are going to use it for.

A lightweight takedown .22 automatic with a tube mag serves many a young hunter very well.

If you are after tight groups, a heavy bench/formal target rifle with olympic style peep sights might serve you better.

First decide purpose, then decide what class of gun.

Winchester and Browning Model 52... both discontinued... :(

Exactly what I was going to suggest... if you look around (and get lucky) you might find a nice one, expect to pay between $500-$600... that is my number 1 choice for a nice 22lr.

Otherwise, a CZ is also an excellent rifle, combined with a nice scope (Leupold 3x9 EFR)... would still be under $1000, and you can find them just about anywhere.

My wife has a new BuckMark heavy barreled target rifle with a 551 EOTECH HWS system and it is fantastic. Her groups from a sand bag rest at 25yds really impressed that heck out of me, so I asked her to show me what she could do standing right hand barricade at 25 well let me tell you she is a good study,
she now tells me no more feather plucking from the grouse breast she says it gonna be head shots. I believe her that is one sweet carbine. It looks just like the one in their catalog. Yeah expensive but in this matter we got what we paid for. Extremely happy.

Check out the savage MK11 BV with the thumbhole stock. It has been getting great reviews from various gun writers for accuracy, reliability and PRICE!
