Hey guys, just got the above rifle. accuracy is amazing.

However, a problem has occurred with the bolt or the magazine: once the 1st shot has been made, I pulled the bolt to remove the empty cartridge and when I pushed the bolt back in to load the next round, it FAILS to push the next cartridge from the magazine to the chamber.

Close examination shows that the bolt does not catch the edge of the cartridge in the magazine to feed it to the chamber.

Hard to believe on a 3G rifle, but you gotta see it to believe it!

Has anyone gotten a problem like that? how do we fix it?

The dealer referred me to the distributor to have the problem look at...

Just got an email from HS Precison explaining how to "fix" the issue. Man, gotta sent it out to my gunsmith with the details instructions... I am sad. Should I send them the bill? :)

that's friggin' rediculous on a $3000 rifle..it's equally rediculous on a $1000 rifle........they should make it good for you...it's probably a simple matter of the feed lips on the mag need massaging or the mag isn't seated high enough in the action....simple fixes but still unacceptable....how hard is it to check feeding at the factory....?

HS precision makes some really nice rifles/stocks but their mag systems are mediocre at best. I really love the o-ring around the floorplate to stop the mag from rattling.

Are the bolts tight? I have 2 H&S HTRs. This surprises me. Did it ever feed right?

sorry for delay, just got back from hunting.

Mine never feeded at all from the mag! As for manual feed of the round in the chamber and closing the bolt over it, it works fine. Bolt is nice and tight.

My rifle is in 300wsm, could it be they gave me a .308 mag? Anyhow, will be adjusting the lips on it

Are you using reloads? Check you OAL if they are. It happended to me that the bullet fit the mag, but once I chambered the first round the other rounds got stuck in the mag Not allowing the bolt to push the next round in the chamber. Check it out. if this is the problem measure your bullet over all length and see what it is. It does not take much to hang up in a mag. If you reload you can adjust it to fit the mag. If they are factory rounds try another bullet They are ever so slightly different in length. Short actions are fussy to begin with.
