Actually, it's Swiss. The Swiss have a fascination with words/names ending in 'fli', and a well documented tradition in firearms. Waffen means firearms. Luzern is, perhaps obviously, Lucerne ;).

I bought myself a CZ527 leftie 223 this year and it is my fave rifle. No kills yet but I am working up loads right now. Damn this thing is cheap to reload!
And the CZ is a mini mauser action so is fairly light as well as accurate. Soon as I can find a buddy to hunt yotes with Im outa here. My most fun gun to shoot as well. Feels like a bolt action rimfire when I carry. Chucks and yotes on the menu soon. Saw the cartridge in a display at a gun show a few years ago and fell in love right away. This is my second 223-the first was a Ruger No 1. The CZ is a sweet rifle and I am expecting great things of it.

anyone care to speculate on the price of .223 factory ammo next year?
i guess this is going to finally motivate me to start reloading as the dirt cheap availability of .223 winchester bulk packs was one of the reasons i never bothered. i used to shoot more .223 than anything (aside from .22LR).

if the US is restricting .223 and .308 export i assume this also applies to ammo as well?

I can't see them banning .223 and 308 The .223 is one of the most popular varmint rounds and a 308 very popular mid- large game round. But most of the rules they have made recently make no sense. But the selection of .223 factory is not what it used to be, so i'm told . Remember if hi-cap buttler creek mags for 10/22 are a danger to national security :rolleyes: they might ban everything else :runaway:

I just picked up a NEF Survivor in 223 with the heavy barrel, topped it with a NC Star 6-24 last night, had it out this morning to sight in. Seems like a good low-cost setup. Hopefully get lined up on some yotes with it later this fall.

I have used the .223 for some time sold my Police 700 it shot very well.
Bought a 700 XCR LRT with Bell Carlson stock very nice gun shoots very well .250" with 69, gr sierras,55gr NoslerBT and 75gr Berger VLDs. Just testing some 75gr Scirocco 11 don,t know if they will stablize in 1/9 twist but if they do it should be a oustanding bullet for coyottes & wolves, around 3000fps.

There where some other CNG members at range we he was testing this gun, he shot a 5 shot group at 100 measured .200" and then went to 300y
shot three 5 shot groups all under the inch and the smallest was .615" some amazing cartridge
 
Hey K98, how ya doin? As a responsible hunter I try to eat everything I shoot. Found out groundhogs are not very edible. Dunno about dogs but other people eat them eh? Chucks are squirrels so should be ok. Pass the ketchup!
Since the 224 is used on so many other rounds, as is the .308, reloading should be no prob. A good supply of brass is a good idea anyways in case there is a temporary ban till all the dust settles and they find out they have pissed off waaaaay too many people. Im saving lots of brass and bullets just in case. The stuff dont go bad sittin on yer shelf eh?

I am pretty sure migratory game birds are regulated by federal law, not provincial or territorial.

id apply this to most game animals, but IMO theres a world of difference between game animals and varmints.
i dont think many people actually EAT crows, for example, but few will mourn the death of one.

groundhogs destroy farmland, eat crops and pose a very serious hazard to horses and livestock that step into their burrows or the sinkholes they produce, break their legs and need to be put down. i like horses and cows a lot more than i like overgrown field rats :D

that said i have no problem with YOU choosing not to hunt groundhogs, just a simple difference in philosophy.
 
When I get the chance I'll try it on Caribou. Should be okay especially since a lot of hunters here use similar calibers 22-250, 243 etc.
Not sure which ammo I'd use. Still checking on that

I'm pretty sure that the mentioned "Match" ammo isn't recommended for use on game. It's target ammo.

Something like a TSX or Nosler Partition would be the best 22cal game bullets out there for game.
