Im gonna stuff some H4895 under them and see what happens...stay tuned

Tod, I thumped my Bear and Bull moose using those 250gr round nose. Both times they performed very well and held together too.
They shot very well in our 1-10" twist RKS barrels.

Funny, I recall mentioning this bullet three years ago and some punk kid from BC said they weren't that cool........ There still might be hope for this kid, I really think so.:D

BLC2 or H335 might be a good option if you aren't happy with the 4895. H380 has actually shown potential in my X57 cases too.

I bought a custom 338/08 about five years ago I believe, I have since sold it. Reloading info was scarce at the time I ended up using XMR 2015 with a 185 grain Barnes X bullet. I am thinking I ended up with XMR 2015 cause it came with the rifle. The load I liked was using IMR 3031 with my Hornady 250 grain round nose load and it was devastating on the black bear I took with it that spring....Mind you the 185 grain Barnes work well also on a couple of blacke bears the following year... Never should have sold that gun...It was a Sako 75 as well...

Fired my test loads this evening

They definitely will work..but they do hit alot lower at 100 yards than a 200 grain load  I wasn't expecting 8 inches of drop @ 100y when +2" @ 100y with 200 grain (2675 fps).

Fired four shots, each round held a different powder charge. All were fired over the chrony.

250 grain Hornady Round nose @ 2.86" OAL, H4895 powder, CCI 200 primer, F-C 338F brass (22.5" barrel length)

40.5 grs ~ 2117 f/s
41.5 grs ~ 2166 f/s
42.5 grs ~ 2197 f/s
43.5 grs ~ 2267 f/s

first 3 shots landed within 1" of each other, the last shot climbed up quite a ways (top 2 shots are 200 gr Fusions out of a clean brl)

I will try more loads, keep going up a bit at a time. I'd like 2350 f/s and a POI no more than a 3" below point of aim at 100 yards. Might even try some Varget to see how it works too

tb

Not necessarily just an 8" drop. Different bullets leave the barrel at different points of vibration, (harmonics and all that.) Even by upping the charge they may not move more than an inch higher.

I have TSX that shoot 12" higher than the IB's, both 225gr at close to the same speed. Bang on left to right, but alot higher.

you're right. well ideally I would like to be +2" with 210 triple shocks and no more than 3" low @ 100 yards with 250 grainers. Hopefully the span shrinks with more testing :)

I tested the 250 grain tonight over 44.5 & 45.0 grs H4895. 3 shots of each, the results :

44.5 grs ~ 2320 f/s avg

45.0 grs - 2310 f/s avg

Both groups landed 3" below point of aim at 100 yards, I am sighted +2" @ 100y with 200/210 gr @ 2650 fps. Accuracy seemed to be around 1.5", didn't bother measuring them

I think I will load them @ 44.5 grs and call load development DONE :yingyang:

I just dumped a moose yesterday using my Tikka T3 in 338 Federal, using 185 grain triple shocks over 47 grains of Varget.

That swamp donkey never took a step after it was hit.
