i might be in love . . .:runaway:

:adult:

We dont' have wss's around here but Ive heard some doosies at the local "gun store"

- We dont' stock those leverrevolution rounds, I dont' know what that plastic tip will do the the inside of a barrel :runaway:

- The Marlin 1895 receiver is stronger than the Ruger No.1

- You cant kill moose with 6.5x55

There's probably more but ive either forgotten or erased them from my memory.....

Funny... I had the same experiance last weekend in Saskatoon. Thankfully I research my stuff before I even walk in the door... buy exactly what I want and then leave.

I fear for the newbies though.

I believe gunstore chatter is sort of like the talk that goes on here at CGN! There is some good information out there but most of it is BS! Learn how to pick out the good bits (Sandra!) and consider the rest entertainment.

Two observations:

1: If you think you have it bad where you are, you should (JUST ONCE FOR THE EXPERIENCE) visit Cabela's (formerly SIR) in Winnipeg. You guys got it good.

2. It appears that Sandra IS THE ENTERTAINMENT.

cil( bless their souls) had dominion centrefire cartridges and bullets away back when i started in this game- 1970 and earlier- with PLASTIC tips, NYLON tips, BLACK NYLON TIPS( FOR THOSE INTO THAT SORT OF THING) HOLLOW POINTS, YOU NAME IT- while he may not know what they do to a barrel, we certainly do or can FIND OUT in very short order
there are VERY FEW actions stronger than the ruger 1 single shot- that's why it's used for a lot of custom guns- that and a BRNO mauser
the third one - well we all KNOW better

one of the best this month

the mini14 is an excellent varmit rifle right out of the box

I think half the entertainment is just listening to some of the crap. And I always take the time to try to educate whatever salesperson I get if they don't know.

Sandra I think would be fun to try to 'educate' ;)

I have to say that the couple times I've gone in to the Kamloops WSS store I've had good experiences with knowledgeable and pleasant staff at the gun counter. ("Your results may vary")

I told him the tip did not engage or touch the barrel/rifling, he then told the heat generated would melt the tip.....me: heat from what ? air friction ?

Cant argue common sense, he didnt' have it. Conversation started when I asked him why he didnt' stock it. I would of tried some for the hell of it.

Imagine all the shooters out there with barrels completely fouled up with plastic  I guess I better stop shooting sst's......

I went into our WSS and heard the gun guy tell how he shot a buck the day before, it went down, but when he got over there he couldn't find it so he went home. But he was ok with this because he'd go there the next day and find it cause all the crows would help him find his deer. el douch bag.

sounds like one shop i used to know that stocked only 30-30 and 30'06 ammo, 170 in the 30 twice, 180 grain in the '06- he was mostly into fishing, ammo was a sideline?- he really freaked when i asked for 308/180s in a saber tip
