Dogsled and Hunting

Is it legal to use a dogsled as transportation for hunting in Saskatchewan? It seems to be a grey area. You can't use a dog to assist a hunt in Saskatchewan, but if you are using a dogsled for transportation, is that considered using dogs for hunting?

Where do you get this "factoid" that you can't use dogs in Saskatchewan for hunting??? There are many many well employed retrievers and pointers being used every bird season. Several freinds also use dogs for hunting rabbits. I also use dogs for retrieving beavers and muskrat. The ONLY restriction here is about using dogs for hunting big game. I really get upset when people assume that big game is all there is to hunting. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
I would suppose that a dog in harness is not any real threat to wildlife. We could all hope that the conservation officers would also see it that way. But you aren't likely to get a definitive answer to your question on this site, why not ask Sask Environment?
 
Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was refering to large game.
I'll talk to the local CO.

I'll have to run that past the local CO. I buggered up my knee this summer, so I'm looking for some options...that and I think my puppy would love it.:D

I know in Alberta, other than for cougar, it's illegal for a big game hunter to be accompanied by a dog while big game hunting so I'd interpret that to mean dogsleds as well. I'd interpret Saskatchewan's rule the same way but best to run it by the proper authorities.

I know in Manitoba it is illegal to be accompanied by a dog.

Page 20 on the 2008 Manitoba Hunting Guide.

I searched in vain for anyhting to do with dogs in the Saskatchewan 2008 Hunters' and Trappers' Guide with no luck. Looks like it would be ok, doesn't say otherwise.
