One powder for both .38 Spl. & .357 Mag.?

A pound of Trail Boss also goes just a far as Tightgroup.

A can of Trail Boss is only 9oz. The per pound price is quite a bit more than TG, at least it was last time I bought any (it is a good powder however).

10.5grs of 2400, a .38 special case and a .357 revolver (S&W686) is a dandy. Nice punch and awesome accuracy. Don't listen to the naysayers. 2400 works likes gangbusters in .38/.357.

Yes it is a little more expensive. Higginsons prices are 2lb Tightgroup $38 and 2 lb of Trail Boss is $46. Using light to moderate loads, the 2 lbs will load about 3,500 rounds, the cost difference isn't really significant. Powder charges of Trail Boss are just slightly higher than Tightgroup.

My suggestion for inexperienced loaders, the large margin of safety is well worth the extra couple of dollars when starting out.

BTW, I use a lot of Tightgroup, but have some Trail Boss when teaching reloading to my kids or others. I also use Trail Boss with very light loads in big cases, like 44 mag. (I load some very light loads for younger kids)
