Well it's time to start researching the handgun world. Passed the RPAL today, 100% for both tests.

Need to make my mind up on going for a 357 or 44 Mag S&W. Decisions....

Looking forward to getting my papers back!

Yup congrats, now its the waiting game, one thing I have learned about this hobby,is that patience is a must, something I didn't have.I did my testing courses and testing back in late July,I'm done all that political stuff now and have 3 guns in the safe, but I have to wait for my probation period for the club to end on Dec 28,then I get to wait for my ATT likely get it by Feb,then we shoot!!;):dancingbanana:

I opted for a nice 357 S&W,nice part is,it will shoot 2 calibers,38 and 357.Wolf 38cal reloads are about 12.00 box of 50.

Have fun!:sniper:

Congrats on the great scores. I started with .357 and it does give you the option of shooting .38 or .357 as MET has stated. Personally, I found .44 magnum a little rough on the body for extended shooting. Good luck with your choice and enjoy.

congrats. I was there once thinking what should I buy, then I took the advice of a guy at the gun club to start with a .22 cause they are cheap to shoot. Now as I gain wisdom hear on CGN I have a better grip on what I really want.

A nice .22 is handy for a first or second gun. Helps us with possible flinching and feeding it is a financial break if you want to send a lot of lead down range.

Thanks guys! Main reason why I'm planning on going big first is because I may be flying up North in the spring (on a Beaver -floats). So thinking about a bit of bear defence. Although, I wonder if I can even get an ATC/ATT by then... We'll see.

Congrats neighbour! I too started it all with a S&W 686, great firearm without a doubt, one of my few regrets about selling.

My wifes cousin who flies Beavers up north for a fly-in fish camp business has his wilderness ATC and uses a .357, for what its worth.

Go for the .357 powerful and fun to shoot all day. I just blew through a box of .44mag and didn't really enjoy it. More of a novelty to me as the cartridge is too hot for mots handguns.
