No doubt, Cooper rifles are among the prettiest you'll find anywhere, but are they worth the price?

A few brands come to mind that are quite expensive, (by the average guy's reckoning at least), but shoot well enough out of the box to justify the cost.

How about those Coopers?

The few test targets i've seen are pretty impresive. I guess it just comes down to how seriously you take your sport and what you want the rifle for.

They are great rifles. And now that Cooper Arms has given the boot to Obama-loving Dan Cooper they might be worth of consideration.

I owned a Model 36 in .22 for several years. Accurate, beautiful and extremely well made.

I know my opinion of Coopers is a bit baised as we usually have them in stock. However, I honestly believe they are the best value in the market. Yes, they cost more than most(but not all production odels) but you are getting a rifle that is near custom with the fit and finsish near perfect and hand lapped barrels etc. The cost onmany isn't any more than a Sako, Wby, etc. I'm not just a Cooper dealer but an owner and shooter as well.

At the shop we have a couple of coopers, nice guns, esp. with the LUXUS wood...we just got in a Dakota though and it tops the cooper, outshoots it as well. i don't know the price diff. between 'em but this dakota has a Nesika action or some such and is a real beauty, my vote(but not my money) goes to the Dakota.

We stock Dakotas too but they are three times as much as a comparible Cooper. Of course, the Dakotas are often much heavier chamberings.

From the ones I've seen (only a few) they're gorgeous and can shoot very well. SakoAlberta keeps posting those damned pics and I'm gonna wake up in Lloyd any day now and wind up coming home poor, happy and dreaming up hiding places for all the new bloody Coopers I'm gonna own.

I've seen a couple of Dakota, an they are fantastic. Like SA said they are at least 3500 USD and the three I have seen shoot (two 300 Dakotas and a 330 Dakota) couldn't keep up to any Cooper test target I've seen. They were 1-1.5" guns at best (great hunting accuracy mind you). I would love to have a classic 25-06, but a 7x57 or 300 H&H Dakota Model 10 is a day dream I've had for 5 years+. I just don't have $6000 laying around:(

Come on up anytime and take a look, after all, you don't have to buy! ;)

Coops are great, here's mine, shoots better than it looks, it won't be my last one:p

Coopers stock wood is nicer than most rifles deluxe versions

When I see the groups offered by Coopers, I would like to know what load was used. I an quite certain they would be using high grade ammo in their 22's but would the details of the rifle load be made available to the buyer. When I bought my first Remington 40XB, the accuracy load was supplied. Some years later I obtained the accuracy loads for all calibres. Does Cooper make these loads available or would that have liability issues?
