Found a dead deer in the woods while scouting out an area

You are right, but it is worse than you think.

Amongst the carcass of this fairly large female was a broad headed aluminium arrow probably shot from a cross bow rather than a bow telling by the length of the arrow.

"...wounded by an arrow..." It wasn't wounded by an arrow. It was wounded by whoever shot the arrow.

This deer was wounded by a person whom has no idea of the regulations or is just plainly poaching. You see, the zone I was scouting was not yet open for rifle season and bow season had just closed. In that particular zone, crossbow hunters and rifle hunters are considered the same and a cross bow hunter cannot hunt during bow season. Therefore, that deer was shot with a crossbow during bow season.

The person that shot the dear was poaching.

Naw, no interest in picking fights with anyone......life is way too short for that. If I ever have an issue with something said on here, it's the words or the thoughts behind them.....definitely not the person. Hunters are one of those strange groups that seem to delight in feeding on their own. A buddy and I always say that if you put enough hunters in a room for enough days, they'd eventually vote to totally outlaw hunting. Bow hunters malign rifle hunters......meat hunters malign those with an interest in horns......hunters of modest means malign those with money. Country hunters mock city hunters. Sadly it never ends.

I'm all for poachers being prosecuted to the full extent of the law and having their deeds publicized but to brand groups of hunters due to their geographical location or financial porfolio or choice of weapon really seems to serve little purpose to me.......guess others differ in those thoughts.

No need to explain the urban/rural dynamic btw.....I don't live in a city and I do have deep rural roots but I don't brand all city hunters with the same iron either.......I still like to measure a man by his actions......not his address.

I live in a city but also lived on a farm. I have been bow hunting for over 30 years and shot more big game with a bow than a gun. I have always pulled the trigger or released an arrow when I was sure it was the best shot to kill that animal. Given a hunters ability and knowledge in the use of his type of weapon I would hope all hunters do the same. BUT if you are a hunter the end results are not always what you wanted? Every hunter has skeletons in the closet? We can assume a lot when we were not there. I agree not to agree with those I HEARD STORIES.

I agree and refraining from placing words, meanings and intents that were not present in the posts of others would be a good way to start. I think you misinterpreted what I wrote as my opinion rather than a simple relaying of what I was told.
