I understand a Range Officer has to accumulate 6 [match] points in a calendar year in order to maintain their status as an RO. How many points does the President of IROA or NROA (Canada) have to accumulate in order to maintain their status as president?? Is it the same as an RO?? Is there a different number of [match] points required for each level, for CRO or RM or whatever??

This sounds like a loaded question... but I'll bite!

As far as I know, there is no point system to maintain the position of president of either IROA or NROI Canada.

That being said, both current Presidents are very active in officiating and I am confident to say that both current presidents exceeded their minimum requirement for the maintenance of their IROA/NROI official status.

And no, there is no different number of match points required for different ranks of officials.

Lets put this in perspective..

How many hours does the president of IBM have to spend answering calls on the help line to customers??

The fact is that managing positions in any company or organization do not require the same level of hours as positions that are doing their "job description". A Senior position needs to understand the responsibility and the knowledge of the lower positions, but does not have to actually DO the positions job.. I would rather have a president that understood all the "issues" and who's job was it to lead the organization to better itself, then to have "just some glorified RO" trying to lead.

IMO there is way more to being a president of a successful organization then just knowing how to RO (or having points to prove it). If that was the case, then NROI would have folded years ago.

Following your logic.. then..

Now you are going to say that to be an RO you have to also shoot 20 matches a year.. right??

Leaders should be leading, that is their job.. if they aren't, then that is a different story all together..

Edit to Add:

I've worked for several "high tech" small companies.. some that did good, some that did great, and some that tanked..
it was not due to the technology, the market, or the employees.. they reasons they tanked was that the so called "leaders" had no leadership skills.. they where just glorified geeks who thought they could run a company.. they got a wake up call fast, when the realized they had good technical understanding, but no leadership skills..

I enunciated no logic and do not put words in my mouth, eh?

I simply asked questions.

You should not be so quick to jump to conclusions.

and we all know WHY you asked the question, hence my response.

so if you don't like people answering the underlying question, then go ahead spit it out .....WHY did you ask the question? so it's very clear and from the horses mouth!!

The NROI Canada President, or Regional Coordinator is appointed by the Regional Director of IPSC Canada. The individuals that have held this position have usually been Range Master and have been involved in the sport for a number of years.

The NROI President, or Regional Coordinator, needs to be a member in good standing. So to keep there officiating status current they do need to work at events. The current NROI regional coordinator earns between 20 and 30 points a year working Level II and III events.

To your other questions:

Officials need to work a minimum of six points per year

To become a CRO you must obtain 28 points and complete additional training.

To become a Range Master you must obtain 55 points and be recommended your Section Coordinator, the Regional Director and the Regional Coordinator of NROI. There is a one year probationary period for Range Masters.

You can find more information on www.nroi-canada.org

Who is 'we all'?? Could you please provide a list of names so that I might know of whom you speak.

Unless you all live inside my head you have no idea why I do anything. You are guessing at best, which is a little different from knowing.

I don't mind people answering underlying questions, even when there are NONE.

To make it exceedingly clear, I asked the questions to get answers. It is as simple as that.

I am not a horse (nor either end of one) and you see it from my finger tips (PC), not hear it from my mouth. We will have to invent new colloquialisms for the new age, eh?

:D

You can add my name to the list and I don't know you or your motives.

As a 3rd party observer who has no idea who you are, 99% of your questions appear on the surface to have the main goal of causing crap within and about the IPSC community.

Perhaps you should look at how you phrase things if in fact you have no ill purpose in mind rather than defend posts that portray your intent wrongly.

Cheers!

+1 .... line forms to the left.

All the detractors may think as they please. The operative word being 'think' (or 'thimk' as the case may be).

I post questions here to elicit response. From all the responses I gather information. Meaning to or not, you all add to my knowledge in different ways. I learn a lot about people which is really better than watching television.

Have at it boys and girls. Have a very happy Saturday as well. :D

To all those who think there is an underlying question or some obscure logic or some crap causing hidden agenda, stop beating around the bush. Reply, stating exactly what you think the purpose of the question is; WHY the question was asked, what the underlying question is. If you are shy then PM me.
