Hello,

Any one know if AR 15 upper in 7.62x39 are still available , and where would you find one.

And is that upper will fit a 5.56 lower .

Thanks.

several companies make them, and yes, they fit the standard lower. C-products makes the mags.

Can you please tell me which companies, because when I google , only Olympic arms comes up.

You can PM me if you carry any in stock.

Dont forget the AR design uses spent gas to cycle the rifles innards, so all the guts are exposed to the spent gases. If you try and use corrosive ammo it will bung up in record time. The reason AK's and CZ858's can eat that ammo all day long is because the gasses just push a piston, that piston cycles the gun, so no actual corrosive gas goes into the receiver. Id consider a 7.62X39 upper, if it included a piston conversion too....Wolverine told me the Bushmaster rifles in 7.62X39 were no longer getting export permits, but that was a few months ago, and things appear to be loosening up a bit.

waste of time

the uppers are expensive the mags are expensive and hard to find the bolts break

save your$$ and buy an sks or vz58 if you want to shoot 7.62x39mm

My OLY is still working fine. Only one failure to extract, overly warm barrel and steel cases. Haven't cleaned it for close to 300 rounds. Going to see if it will go a full case without cleaning. Plenty accurate to boot!
Mags are only $25.

Model 1 Sales makes uppers in 762x39. Mine runs sweet and is quite a whumper. I picked it up off another forum member. As previously stated, no corrosive ammunition should be used, mine got cruddy buildup and reddish corrosion in a 1 hour car ride home from the range. Currently trying to create a good load for it. I believe my barrel is made for 308 bullets and not the 311's of the old euros. I like it and would reccomend.

Colt use to make a 7.62X39 ( if you can find one here )
Model 1, DPMS , Oly , Sabre , Armalite

You can always just get a barrel ( DPMS barrel is pretty inexensive through Midway )

The MGI bolt seems to be the best of the bunch. I have had a DPMS bolt go for over 2K without a problem but others have had issues with bolt breakage

Depnding on your trigger assembly, some Com Bloc ammo requires a firing pin and / or bolt mod to be 100% reliable. My CM single stage had issues

The C-Products are the current mag of choice but you would be suprised how reliable 5 rds work in a regular AR mag. I currently use 5rd 6.5 Grendel mags (C-Products ) that run like a top

Although I typically run non corrosive ( stash is getting low ! ), I don't get too excited running corrosive . A new gas tube is $15 , the bolt and carrier comes out easy for cleaning and its pretty easy cleaning the upper. If I have to spend $200 after a few years replacing a gas tube and a stripped upper I won't loose sleep
