Hey all,

The round count on my grizz 870 is nearing 1500  I have noticed that some shells seem to be jamming in the chamber after being fired. At first I just thought it was the winny xpert hi-velocity steel rounds i was using, but I have had some fed #5 and winny slugs get jammed now too. Not a big deal, just had to smack the butt on the ground while holding the slide.

Figure it is just a dirty chamber? whats the best way to clean it? i dont have a 12ga bore brush yet...

im going to clean out the whole gun. I just took it apart, and along with normal debris build up I found a 12" piece of grass, a stick and a ton of dirt gunk. LoL I think its time to give it a cleaning.

The barrel looks good, but i think i will try to scrub the chamber with my 30 cal bore brush to see if i can loosen up any crud.

Definately get a proper 12 gauge chamber cleaning tool, if there's one area that'll tie up a pump if its dirty it's the chamber, and it doesn't even need to be visibly dirty.

Only 1500?

By end of this weekend, the list will be as so.

1500+ Winchester Value pack.
600+ Winchester 2 3/4" Slugs.
140 Winchester 3" Slugs.
350+ Fiocchi Slugs.
400+ Fiocchi Buckshot.
400+ Rio20 Birdshot.
30+ Ranger LowRecoil Slugs.

3420 for a pretty good estimate, will probably clear 4000 easily tomorrow. :)

Yes I noticed the shells sticking in the chamber, but just give it a good wipe down quickly an it smooths out, I found its just carbon buildup causing friction between the usual clean metal on metal extraction.

I can't even keep track of how many rounds my OTHER guns have shot, an then 2 more guns coming to go nuts on too! :D

I cheat! I put my bore brush on its rods then lock it into place in my power drill an one push in an out barrel is perfectly cleaned. :D

cleaned it all and oiled the insides. fired off a mix of slugs and steel and upland shot. no jams! I ran a oily patch down the barrel first. came out absoltely filthy. So then i put some 0000 steel wool on the end of a dowel and ran it through the barrel a couple times. then a few more dry patches. shiny barrel, and no more malfunctions.

Will be buying the proper brushes for maintenance asap!
