Alrighty troops. I've got an idea I want to run by to ascertain interest before I pick up the ball and run with it....
I'm contemplating organising a long range fun shoot in CFB Shilo(yes, I have the ability and the means to do this), on one of the ranges (likely King OP, the site of our annual Battle of the Bulge Shoot for those who have attended them in the past), under the auspices of the CFB Shilo Rifle Club sometime in the late Oct - early Dec timeframe. Before I do all the leg work and jump through all the hurdles, I need to know who might be interested in attending such a shoot as well as anyone in the local area willing to help out. I will need to confirm, but in all likelyhood, 50 cal and below (338 LM, etc) would be permissible with ranges exceeding 2000M if someone is crazy enough to want to try shooting at that distance. I'ld like to have a large calibre/long range lane (out to 2000M or more if interest is there) and a standard calibre/standard range lane (under 1000M), so you wouldn't need a big heavy to come and have fun! Please post any interest right here, and we'll go from there! Just so it is clear, this will be a shoulder controlled, scoped rifle shoot, not an MG shoot.

Sounds interesting

enough for me Coach....................

Just need to get a few more rounds downrange at the 1000 on the farm and I should be ready to roll. Probably about 3 or 4 more that I could possibly think of in Brandon who may be interested.

I've already spoken with Bill, and he's all for it. Let the others know please in case they are not on here Calvin. Talk soon.

today to Neil while at the gunshop. He will pass word around. Teale was also there so I told him.

One of the guys that I work with just got a new 338 Edge built by Gaillard so he may be interested in heading out to stretch it out.

I will mention to my hunting buddy next time I talk to him if he is interested. He has a 7 Ultramag that is in the process of being finished. If he has time to site it in he may be interested.

Gunasuaras,

When are you thinking this might happen? Are the field ranges not closed during deer season?

I'd prefer to see it happen in late Oct. before it gets too cold and before hunting season.

Also, I've got a .338 I want to shoot. I'm only going to make the drive out from Wpg if you get approval for .338 and .50. I can shoot everything smaller out to 1000 at St. Charles in Winnipeg for a lot less in fuel $.

My intent is to be able to shoot everything 50 cal and below. I'll have to talk with Range Control to see when the ranges are avail. I think they close for 2 wks in Nov, but will confirm. As for it being too cold, it's never too cold to shoot! More to follow on tighter timings in the next week or two.....
