M14 - Price Check

I'd say $400 (Marstar's price when they have them in stock) plus shipping and taxes. So, someone handing you one for say $450-475 roughly is a fine price as that's what you'd pay for a new one if they had them at Marstar.

Of course,
anyone can charge anything they want for anything that they have for sale. This is known as a FREE MARKET.

And in a free market, the buyer is totally free to look around for a better deal.
The only reason to put the price up that high is to ... "gasp" ...
attempt to make a profit.
And no self respecting Gun Nut would do that to his fellow gun nutz, now would he??

Lets leave the raping and pillaging to the trained professionals ...
aka, the dealers who sponsor the site, and put their money UP FRONT to stock inventory for us nutz to play with. Having BTDT for over a decade, I can categorically state that the dealers are NOT making a lot of profit. Dealers have OVERHEAD, and probably deserve the few bucks they end up with [ after taxes ].

I quit being a licensed firearms dealer and licensed gunsmith years ago, when I realised I was on the losing end of the equation ... the govt made more on my parts and labor that I did. SO, now I work for the govt as THE TAX MAN.
BWAHAHAHA! And believe me, in my business, business is always GREAT!!!

PS:
For some realistic prices on an M14 NORC, check out a Lazerus2000 done up shorty in the EE.

Basically, you are getting about four hours of labor for free ...
and I didn't do the math starting out with a $ 600 price for the basic rifle either!!

I thought Marstar ran out of Norinco M14s last year (or early this year)? They said that was the last batch and it was made from leftover parts, etc. No more, that's it for good, blah, blah, blah.

What happened???

You've got the story pretty close. They bought the very last of the M305/M14s from China last year. However shipping has been a heartache. The last container of the last rifles is here now. Most are already gone to fill back-orders.
All of the M14s we've gotten for the last few years have been made of "leftover" parts. The production line went dark in the late 90's (?) when Clinton banned the importation of Chinese rifles.

So then are the rifles being sold now the "leftovers" going to be of a least a decent quality. IMO leftovers constitute, flawed parts, and I know coming from China there might not be too much of a difference.

So I guess what I am trying to say is, are these last batch of rifles of lesser quality, than say ones you could get 6-12mths earlier?

With the Marstar warranty, there isn't much risk in "rolling the dice". If I didn't already have one I'd be jumping on one now before all that's left are inflated re-sells on the EE.

Damn I wish folks would get their facts correct....
Almost three years ago we bought up all the remaining parts that the factory had on hand for the M-305s....We had them restart production using these parts....

YES they were leftover parts when production stopped for the US market. The very same quality that was going into regular production....

If you bothered to check you would find out that we have offered the best quality of all the M-14s that have arrived in Canada....

YES the container that is in Customs is in fact the last one, we do not have any more in the pipeline

And frankly, it seems like each suceeding batch of M14s are just a little better than the one before it, with the possible exception of the barrels being mis-indexed (an easy fix).

I bought mine about 3 years ago, and I've seen examples of rifles shipped about a year-and-a-half ago, and the rifles shipped about 6 months ago, and they all seemed nicer out of the box than my old one.
