I see that alot and also the opposite. he has been shooting his semi, but the hammer is not cocked.

The opening scene in Marathon Runner (Dustin Hoffman and Lawrence Olivier) is a flashback to Dustin's father committing suicide with a 1911. The pistol is laying beside the body, uncocked.

the biggest thing i hate about gun use in movies is when the character racks the slide to show they mean business

who carries and empty gun? wtf good is that

ive been doing alot of contributing on that website this week, ryans comment on shooter and the reply was quite awesome imo

I like gun movies, but I hate gun movies. :D
I like:
-Real recoil
-Real reloading
-Real gun handling
-Real bullet efects

I hate:
-skinny girls shooting Desert Eagles without the recoil of a bug hitting the frame(;))
-skinny girls shooting .12ga with 3½ slug loads shotguns without jumping back
-50rds and + pistols
-hammer down on a 1911
-cocking the slide before shooting, because we all carry PAPER WEIGHTS, RIGHT?
-shooting a MP5 during 2min without reloading
- I HATE GUYS SHOOTING PISTOLS INDOORS/OUTDOORS THAT MAKE A SUPPRESSOR SOUND, I JUST... HATE THAT, because just shoting a 9mm in a bedroom will make the windows crack or blow up.
-seeing guys shooting guns indoors and hearing the floor cracking 3sec after the shot.
AM I THE ONLY ONE?

Oh I almost forgot the jumping back guy shot with a 9x19mm.

Sorry I forgot the super guys doing some backflips not getting hit, I forgot the guys who have the time to take a cup of coffee before the bullet hits them, but the bullet doesn't hit the target, the target had the time to move, because we all move at 1200fps, RIGHT?

i do... i thought it was standard

WOW! I see I hit a real nerve on this one.... :D

A lot of the stuff I just chalked up to Hollywood'ism. Like the new assasin movie with Angelina Jolie where she flicks the gun as she shoots and the bullet is supposed to totally defy the laws of physics and it arcs around an obstruction to get the guy hiding behind. Now THERE is a real head scratcher if there ever was one.

The Never Ending Magazine is just a bit more Hollywood. Although Bruce Willis' latest Die Hard seemed to follow reality far more than other movies.

And I'll have to watch out for the non cocked hammers on the 1911's and other SA guns... that was a good one! :D

WAY OF THE GUN was outstanding for gun play and guns, both carried 1911 Commanders and the gun play was fantastic. Ronin was also very good, and DeNiro being a gun guy with a CCW helps. Also agree on Segal, another real shooter and uses his own custom 1911's Tussey's in the movies.

The biggest problem with many movies is that the directors know nothing about guns therefore either ask the armorers to do things that are just wrong, or do not bother to retake when the actors get it wrong.
I told the director of "Word of Honor" that if he used a scene in which a GI shoots a person with an M16 at very close range inside a hospital and the scene closes showing a wisp of smoke leaving the muzzle in the same fashion as a cigertee smoking when left in an ashtray does, I wanted my name left out of the credits. This same director asked us to shoot live ammo at the various buildings so they would look shot up and as if a war was going on there. The problem was that the set was less than 200 yards from a campground that was occupied and the bullets would require being directed directly at said campground. Needless to say I told set dec to get out the Black and Deckers.
Many of the movie types both in production or on set have absolutely ZERO gun knowledge.
I hate watching any shows with gun scenes, the BS and lack of reality bothers me too much.

Predator. Hand held mini-gun?! I realize that two of these were made for Hollywood, but by the time they were slowed down to 1600 Rounds per minute, what would be the advantage of carrying them around? Batteries, motor to spin barrels and feed, and a really heavy multi-barreled weapon.

No thanks, I'll carry a SAW.

lol, wicked thread,. uncocked 1911's . I SEE THIS ALL THE TIME, it bugs the $hit out of me, seagal keeps getting fatter and fatter, watch him run in any of his movies its too funny. however i keep watching them . ####ty gun movies are the best. if you couldnt sit there and go, wow a 50 round beretta mag, or a wow semi auto pump shotgun. or wow a g7 made of porcelain "gotta get me one of those" and of course the slide locked back ,yet it still is shooting people.. .then it would be a boring movie where some guy has a glock.

I want to see a movie where the bad guy shoots the good guy and says "should of got a Sig, To-Hell-and-Back Reliability"

always fun to do :) but do you guys ever count the bullets they fire? i laugh when i see a character fire 20 rounds from a reg glock and never reloads

We did some FX comp work for one of his movies, and the girl who was working on the project told me that Seagal had gotten so fat that he needed a body double for EVERYTHING. Pretty much all he could do in the movies was close shots where he could pose his face or deliver dialog. Hell, at one point he was so huge that all he could wear was a gown.

Very sad.

I read a a recent article about him that said he has a pretty serious thyroid condition. Never the less, his gun skills are still very good.
