How does your lady friend handle the recoil from the M44? I want one for a cheapy bush gun but it has to be something my girlfriend can plink with a little and still enjoy despite the power of the 7.62x54R

My friend has an M38 carbine ( same things as the m44 , but with no bayo) and the recoil is not too bad at all. The muzzle flash, blast and shockwave will make your heart jump though! I have the 91/30 long rifle and it isnt bad for recoil either.

Firing off the bench seems to amplify the recoil significanly. Off hand is not problem though!

Edit** My testimony to the recoil is coming from a 6ft, 18 year old male. People of smaller stature, especially women, may have a different opinion.

wifey doesn't like shooting it much, prefers the sks,
i buy ammo buy the crate at 300 for 800, so 7.50 a box
recoil is amplified from a rest
this is my truck/backup hunting rifle, sending it to the smith next week for a scope because i suck with irons,

My gf doesn't like it much, moreso because of the hard edged butt plate. She doesn't mind .303's or 8mm's, as long as they butt plate isn't so sharp.

Edit - I think I know where you were - we were shooting a couple km from there yesterday
