Hello folks . I think its the first time I ever posted in optics forum. When it comes to optics I am way out of touch, to me so far the cheaper the better was the best way to go. But. I have another M14 coming and Troy stock in the mail as well and I want to put together something fast, short and CQB-ish for hunting. I have other rifles for sitting in a tree stand, this one will be scout rifle. So, I am totally at the loss what to use for scope. Iron sights are good but I found them unsuitable for low-light conditions. I need a sight, like red dot, but I would like to have some magnification for past 100m ranges too. Something switchable maybe? Or two scopes maybe? Troy is nothing but mess of rails everywhere lol. Is there anything on the market ( at user-friendly price ranges) that would fill this role?

Thanx in advance

Nightforce NXS. Either the 1-4x or the 2.5-10x would be nice. I saw a 2.5-10x on Rick's (ATRS) M14 and it's slick. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, go with a Leupold 1-4x.

I have a VXII 1-4x20 on my .375 and I find that in low light conditions, the scope is inadequate. I am looking into something else. My dad has a red dot on his .450 Marlin and I have used it to shoot minute of moose groups at 200 meters......

man everytime time someone asks for a cheapish option u get nightforce blasted out..

Millet DMS-1 .. im using one on an M14 , have used it on a .22 , and will be using it on my new AK ..

its not expensive, has a good reticle for hunting, doesnt drop zero from recoil,
can illuminate it for low light shooting. only thing is it doesnt have target turrets

check it out

edit:
sorry i didnt see that u wanted a scout setup .. but still check it out :D

The closest I can think of for your scout setup is Burris 1.5x-4x handgun scope. But it doesn't have illuminated reticle.

Leupold 1-4x.

I'm pretty happy with mine. Good scope for the money.

VXIII 1.5-5x28 IR is what I have on my 7615, great for the application you have

Hey Cummins4x4
do you mean a Leupold 1.5-5x20?
X2 on that one. Great scope! i have 3 of them:D

Looked at the Bushnell 30mm 4200 1.25-4 the other day. $440.00
Probably will get one. It had the German reticle with the illuminated dot in the center when the battery was turned on. 10 settings for brihtness
NICE! I also looked at the 800.00 Leupold 30mm VXIII 1.5-5X20 Illuminated.
Nice as well but not worth the extra 400.00 IN MY OPINION and I'm a Leupold guy big time. The 4200 is nice scope for the money. One thing to keep in mind, the Bushnell does lack in the eye relief department. Factor that in when setting the bushnell on a hard recoiling gun.
