Looking for a 22 pistol

That being said, this topic has been discussed bajllion times, but you guys just can never stop whining:D

I want a 22lr pistol that doesn't look from outter space and especially not the ruger mkII, even the p22 looks weird to me, i'd consider the mosquito but there's so much trash talk about it that i despise myself for mentioning that gun

What other options do I have? (on the cheaper side...dont want to buy a glock with conversion kit for instance...)


im a lefty too, so no fancy grips, i looked at the s&w 41, the grip looked too right handed

Browning Buckmark is nice.

And not all the Rugers look so swept back and Star Trek'ish. Look at the 22/45 with its far more 1911 style grip frame angle.

As for grips buy the gun because you like the way it shoots and then find someone that can work wood or make your own wooden grips that are as lefty as you want.

S&W also has the relatively cheap 22A and 22S (aluminium or steel) that has a left side slide release but a center button just below the gaurd for a magazine release. That's about as ambidextrous as you'll get I'd say.
 
I have a browning buckmark and love it. Have never had any issues, it doesn't have to be cleaned every couple hundred rounds or else. I have shot hundreds to close to a thousand rounds through it in a day and it still goes. Great little gun, multiple configurations and doesn't look likes its from space.
 
Brownings are pretty nice and good value for money.Also,keep a look out for old Brownings on EE.I recently bought a Nomad in great shape for a bit over $200.Also look for old Browning challengers,they are also great 22's,and you can buy them for a pretty good price if you look around.

Other options would be high standards and the older Berettas(look around Trade ex for these).Dont worry too much about the grips,they can be easily altered or replacements can be bought from places like houge

The new Sig p220 22LR. Looks interesting and can convert into a center fire. It also looks like a real pistol. Questar is bringing them in.

Are new production Sig Mosquitos still a problem. I was looking at one in the local gun shop last Saturday and the weight, feel, sights, mag release, etc. all seemed good. I've read about the feeding problems but I'm wondering if Sig has sorted the problems out yet?
