Ah, yah, I know them. Although I misunderstood when you said "loaned" but what they do is rent. for $$! a bit different.
.....

You were thinking that I meant they would let you take the gun home with you? :D

Yeah, it's renting in that you buy their ammo and they let you use their guns. The rent being mixed in with the ammo cost.

I have acquired a nice piece of a gun
an old friend of my wifes father has passed away a while back
so his wife have given me a call knowing I am into guns and asked me a favour to take a look at the guns hubby left and what to do with them
she said to me pick what you want from the collection and it is yours for free rest just get ride of in the vault I have found some interesting toys but the one that got my interest is the Desert Eagle .50 of course I said you know this gun is worth about 2,500 and she looked at me and said if you want it take it I have no use for this stuff and I dont want the cops to profit from this So as a good semeritan I transfered all the guns to my now all of the sudden I am faced to purchase another safe which will acomodate about 30 some guns
wife is going to kill me if I buy another safe so I thought i can convert the elecrtical pannel room into the gun room

Any suggestions how to acomplish that

Fun but only as a novelty. These calibres are like people who drive lamborghinis in cities full of traffic and stoplights and no where without set speed limits. Fun, flashy but pointless.

Exactly. What I would call pointless is a smaller caliber on a 500lb grizzly bear. What isn't pointless is a 300grain bullet travelling at 2000ft/sec coming out of a 5" barreled S&W 460.

Geologist and Grove. Now that sort of show is EXACTLY what I'm talkin' 'bout.... :D

Grove, it's amazing how the pressure pulse of the thing when you're in those double side barrier stations pushes the gasses into your face, isn't it? The last time around I thought I new what to expect with the .460 and I kept my eyes open and forward for the blast but the pressure wave just instinctively made me flinch my eyes closed and turn my head just like you did.

Geologist, that's an amazing picture ! ! ! ! It's hard to catch that exact moment when the world lights up like that.

Drvrage, of course you're right. But we're talking about the shooter's equivalent of the BIG SCARE ride at the Exhibition. It's not something you do all the time but it's sure fun to pull out the big popper and make everyone smile now and then.

Both times I've shot the .460 and that one time the regular let me try his .454 Casull reload the "regulars" all gather around for the show. And maybe to laugh and smile a little at the look on the face of the newbie Big Bang shooter lose their big caliber virginity......:D It's not about the practicality, it's about the SHOW!

Hehe ya, I shoot my 12gauge tons no flinch but thats openly in the bush, that .500 in CLOSED spaces WOW. Don't matter what you've shot it's gonna make you jump lol.

If I want that kinda fun I'll just shoot my 12.5" Griz pistol gripped with 3" slugs. :D those feel good hehe.

I've had my .460 for a couple months. Just starting out with some "target"loads for now with lead. Can't wait to see what the factory stuff will do! There is a practical side .. hunting varmint in Montana with it!

:)

I love bringing out friends who haven't shot a gun before. I start them off with a .22lr and work them up through a 9mm, .40, and a 10mm. At the end of the session I'll bring out the DE .50AE and let them have a go. Instant smiles and laughter. It's so "over the top" that the giggling is involuntary. I love to shoot it. I've just picked up a holster and spare mags so I can head to the States and shoot some bowling pins with it. I can't wait.

Watch my son shooting it at the end of this video. What a flinch. He ducks his head completely to the side. LOL

Here's one with some huge flames. Listen at the 1:20 mark and you can hear a guy laughing because of the flash and shockwave. At 1:24 you can hear him getting hit with a spent case. hehe

Quoted for posterity:D

That is exactly what made me post the start of this thread in the first place. It's not about "stopping power", practicality or anything else unless you're a hunter. And since we can't hunt in Canada with handguns what's left? Giggles of awe and trepidation at the range.... :D

That could be said for all handguns in all calibers since all we are only allowed to shoot on approved ranges. There are a few guys on here with wilderness ATC but that just gives you permission to lug a big heavy revolver around in the woods for self defense from wildlife, you still can't legally hunt with it so it's not that big a deal either.

With that mindset, all you really need is a TAU-7 air pistol. Because really you are just punching paper anyway!
There is too many persons like Wendy Cukier, and Mayor Miller, who think just like this outside our community.
They do not need any inside help.
:slap:
EDIT: My extent of enjoyment ceases at .44 Remington Magnum, but I support anyone's personal choice.
Who cares as long as they are safely handled?
