im looking to get into ipsc shooting and am hoping to get a glock 17 will this work and is there a certain model i should try to get ? i also want to shoot bullseye with a 22 conversion kit do these work or is there alot of problems?

also what are the specs the gun has to meet to get into ipsc or idpa shooting?

thnxs

A G17 would be serviceable as a starter gun in IPSC or IDPA.

I do not think you will be very competative in bullseye with a conversion kit. You will have fun......but you will get your but handed to you by people with match guns.

Both my kids have G17s for IPSC. Mind you now they want steel guns!! LOL!

G17 is an excellent gun for production, can be worked over for standard but a G34 would be a better choice if you want to stay with glocks.

G17 is a great idea, and would recommend the .22 conversion but NOT for bullseye! glocks arent a target pistol by any means, but are great for practical situations (IPSC for example)...if u want to get into bullseye, pick up a good .22 pistol (Ruger, S&W, etc...)

PST.....G34 is not on the IPSC Production list. Ergo it is NOT a very good place to start. You will be OWNED in Open.

the g34 and g35 are standard guns. But I agree that unless ur name is sevigny that it could be a tough go. Stick with the g17. I'm shooting a g22 in pro now but probably wouldve done the 17 if I did it all over again

Yes you are correct.......

I just got misdirected as I was talking to a guy last night who wanted to use a Glock in Open....

You could go G22 in Production and use powderpuff loads.

I have my G22 shooting 180gr at ~730ft/sec and I've gotten use to managing the recoil so I find it the same as a 9mm.

But a glock in open!?!?!?!?!?!? He must be nuts! Haha

There is a guy here in Alberta who shoots a Glock in Open. I believe it's a G34 with a Doctor sight on it.

Of course if you were serious about shooting a Glock in Open this one might be a better choice :D
