Anyone ever had a ZOS scope?

I'm not a regular e-bay browser, so I was bemused  by the ad quoted in full below, especially as the starting bid was about $1.99. Since these scopes are made in and shipped from mainland China, I'm assuming that the quality control is probably variable, to put it politely. Nonetheless, I'm curious if anyone has ever actually held one in their hands or (heaven forbid) put in on a varmint rifle. If you want the pictures go to e-bay canada and search for ZOS. They make some pretty impressive claims, but I'm curious if anything about them is correct, other than the name on the box. :runaway:

Thanks

Last time I looked at the Trader Rating on e-bay it was 100%. I have one and am quite impressed with it. You get a lot of scope for the money. Lots of features, good finish, optics seem reasonably good. They also provide scopes for the Chinese military, so they can't be that bad.

Bear in mind that you do get what you pay for and the Chinese scopes suffer from uneven Quality Control. Some seem to be great and some seem to fall apart very quickly.

I bought one on ebay - it was cheap - and I used it on a .223 centrefire for a while as I was waiting for a Falcon to arrive. It worked much better than I was expecting and now sits on my daughter's .22lr. For the money, I found it to be really more than OK and it may be well be a cheap alternative for those who wish to use a rifle off season for some target shooting, switching bad to a lower power higher quality optic for hunting.

This is kind of what I have in mind. I'd like to do some .223 target shooting over the winter, but the scope I have for it it a bit low in power (2-6x30-something) for range work. I'm not in a position to shell out $800-$1000 for a Leupold/Nightforce/Zeiss or what have you, especially since I'm starting with a Stevens 200 to begin with. Someday I hope to have a nice long/heavy barrelled target rig in .223, but for now it is what it is.

I've looked at the Fitco site as well, but the ZOS claims seem even more outragous, and the prices lower. I've never even seen anyone else selling a 10-40x60mm scope, and I have difficulty in imagining trying to mount such a thing on a light rifle. However, something a little smaller and lighter might do the trick.

I've seen Tasco 6-24x40 that were OK, and I've seen the Bushnell Banner in the same size and it seems good for the money - both were between $100 and $200. However, my bump of curiousity is making me wonder just exactly what you get for the very low prices they're offering.

I have visions of the ads that used to be in the back of comic books when I was a kid - 6' Polaris Submarine for $4.95. Of course, it was essentially a cardboard box - I know, my buddy saved up his paper route money and ordered one. The claims that ZOS make seem a bit surreal.

When I took in my Falcon Menace 4-14x 44mm FFP scope to be mounted on my Ruger 10/22 there was a POS errr ZOS that was just mounted on a rifle. The owner of the store knows me pretty well, looked at my scope shook his head and said why are we seeing so many of these scopes. He then pointed to the ZOS on another rifle. I mentioned that the ZOS is referred to as a POS and to take a look through the Falcon. I imagine he looked through the falcon because I didn't hear anymore about it. ;)
