Whats your first impressions from just fondling it?

The fit and finish is pretty nice. The slide is tight against the frame, the grip are ok but I am going to change them to something a little nicer. I like the extented mag release and safety, there is very little movement in the trigger before it breaks. I take some up close pics.

I bought a nickel 1911a1 with 5 mags from marstar because of this post. Thanks. It's a big deal for me, I'm a univ. student, and only buy 1 or 2 guns a year.

German nickel finish ???

Hi all,

Just went on Marstar Web site to check out the hard nickel version of the 1911-A1 and I was surprised to see the inscription "NORCONIA GERMANY" on the slide

Is the slide or the nickel finish done in Germany

Norconia is the importer. There is a Norconia web site. I just sold my nickel NP30. They did a decent job on the plating and it looks cool. We also need some better pictures up in here. If you have long fingers I would also recomend ditching the extending slide stop and getting a standard one.

Thats a problem I had on my NP-30N. While resting my thumb on the extended safety, the tip would end up sitting on the slide stop. That would hold it down so the slide wouldn't lock back on the last round.

Mark, is the full legnth guide rod two piece that uses an allan key? or is it one piece?

Two tone is Chrome

It is sandblasted then chromed, not polished then chromed. Chrome is not shiny, it just usually covers shiny steel.

Given the lack of appreciable wear on the barrel of my Norc, Norinco hard chrome may be one of the toughest coatings known to man. The lugs aren't even getting scuffed (never mind shiney) after a few thousand rounds. Very little visible wear even in extreme wear locations. The chrome on those frames should last forever.
