Marlin 308MX..Anyone got one?

SuperCub,
I was just havin' a bit of a go at a fellow Roberts owner. Nah, I really just think the .308 Marlin is a very practical cartridge design for a traditional levergun. The BLR always left me cold, and though I like the 88 and 99, not only are they hammerless rifles, but they are out of production, and sometimes a new rifle is nice to have. I want this cartridge to succeed, so I guess I have an agenda. If I were willing to part with any of my few centrefire rifles and buy another, a 308 MX would be one of very few rifles I'd consider.

I'd want to run that Marlin Round over a chronograph beside the .308 before I believe their ballistic nonsense......just get the 45/70 and be happy!!

I bought Marlin 45/70 last month, and like it a lot. Was looking at a BLR in 308 this afternoon which was in great condition, but as others have mentioned I just find them unattractive, and I believe the lever on it is even smaller than on my Marlin.

Thanks for the info. I think i am leaning back again to a Guide version of the 45-70... Just concerned over the bulelt availablility... What would be a good factory load to start shooting with?

I think that depends where you live. I myself shoot Hornady Evolution's, which are hard to find in the Montreal region. I now have my local gun shop who will order me a cpl boxes every yr just for me. Though, I think in other regions, especially out West, you will have no problem.
