Bought a Norc. M14 off of Epps a few months ago, havn't played with it only twice. Mine and my buddys both had magazine issues, mine wouldn't let me put them in and his wouldn't hold them in.
He traded his back in, i've looked at mine and found that it seems to be a problem with the little lever that you push to release the mags. the pin holding it in slides out and it difficult to replace.
Epps said they could send it in for warr. BUT, where do they send em?
Is there anyone local to Barrie / Toronto that I could take this to , to have them go over it quickly?

Are you talking about retaining an empty magazine or a loaded 5/20 round (pinned) one? I am assuming your issue is the more common 'loaded magazine' issue.

The pinned mags are sometime errored to the side of caution, and will not seat properly when fully loaded. This can be corrected either by applying some common sense filing against the magazine tab or having it re-pinned.

In the mean-time, you can continue to use it by locking back the action, inserting the magazine, and the releasing the action to chamber a round.
 
You can also replace the pin holding the magazine release in place in the trigger assembly. This seems to help quite a bit

Just said, "Goodbye" to Ice-Pick. We just gave him a mini M14 Clinic that cost him a few hours and a Kelsey's steak (that's why I'm called, "Hungry" :D).

His mag release hinge pin was cracked in half, compromised, fzcked up, broken or whatever you wanna call it. Turns out the split roll pin migrated out which resulted in goofy geometry (not flat or even bearing) mag catch and hence the mag would not stay in (or catch). So after we disassembled this trigger group with a fzcked up pin, we installed a new pin (most of you know I don't use numbers or fractions well, even if I have taught grade 9 and 10 Mathematics, I don't wanna intimidate the newbsticks here) that IcePick found inside my roll pin kit.

Everything works perfectly.... Life is good.

Then we did the usual pull apart, clean the grease and show where the tweaks would happen.

Turns out that HIS rifle has the loudest and most distinct PING that I've ever heard in my (Norinco M14) life. :eek: It's even got the longest duration PING. NO FxCKEN Shzt!! :D

I told him to go out and buy a lottery ticket RFN (right now). What a lucky Sumbitxh!! :evil:

Get this.... his gas cylinder lock tightens up at about 4:30 and then plastic hammers in place to 6 o'clock WITHOUT any shims!! No fxcking joking..... I have told him to buy a second lottery ticket. What a lucky guy. OMG, this is amazing.

Anyways, what a great time we had!! His rifle is now good to go!

Had a great time tonight, learned alot and got to see what makes these things tick,,,,,, or in this case, PING.
I'm probably gonna pull it apart again tomorrow and properly un clog and regrease the appropriate pieces so's its good to go.
After a bit of practice at pulling it apart and putting it back together without any extra parts I should be ok with it.
Can't wait to shoot it now that the mag slips in and out smoothly and the sites work properly.

I'll try to post a target once it's tested.

Maybe one of these weekends we'll sit you behind something bigger in a military caliber, snicker. :sniper:
