hi im new to revolvers i just got a ruger redhawk .44 mag and is it normal that if i pull the trigger fast multtiple times it will lock up on me.and i have to #### the hammer manually to reset it i will appreciate any info that you may have thanx.

I have never owned a Ruger D/A revolver so I cannot comment. I know that S&Ws lock up when the hammer is cocked all the way and Colts lock up when the trigger hits the primer. Regards, Richard:)

when the trigger hits the primer...
you better get it checked out, this may be very dangerous....:D

Are you using commercial ammunition or reloads? I have certainly seen magnum revolvers jam when shooting reloads, because the primer sets back slightly out of the case on recoil.

no its when im dry fireing it empty or with snap caps ,i pull the trigger 6 0r 7 times then it just jams ,i tried letting the trigger reset completly after pullin the trigger but it still jams .is this normal?

I was thinking burrs as well. Had a new hand fitted for one of my revolvers, couple of left-over burrs were causing similar jams. Dry firing, it would once in a while lock up.
