Beretta 92FS Inox: Two different versions?

OK, I see two different versions of the Beretta 92FS Inox (stainless). One is all stainless and the other has black (or blue?) highlights. Is this the difference between the Italian made version and the USA made version? Or is it a newer revision?

I've only seen the all stainless version in person and the highlighted version only online. I think I prefer the all stainless model.

I was curious about this too, I have the all stainless version that I purchased brand new about 4 years ago.

I heard from someone that the INOX flavor is discontinued now so if you find one you want better get it while you can.

The newer American versions have the black controls. I have an older 96 American made with all Inox controls. I prefer the all Inox myself.
 
The top picture shows the old style 92FS, straight dust cover, non radiused backstrap. The newer ones have the slanted cover and radiused backstrap.

A few years ago they had an interim model with radiused grip and straight dustcover.

In my opinion, the slanted dust covers destroys the lines of the classic gun of 80's action movies on both sides of the Pacific.

I've never noticed that before. I have a 1980's 92F frame I bought for a .22 conversion kit and I just noticed it has the straight dust cover. It does look a little better.
 
Mine is a US made that came with black contols, which I replaced with Inox (left the safety though)...it does have the slanted dust cover.

Newer Inox models have black/plastic parts, not sure if Italian models are still all Inox.

btw Can Am has 92Inox Berettas listed, anyone know if they have black controls?

There was an thread on that in the OT...they have black controls.

Epps has a couple Inox listed too. Most likely they have black controls. The one I bought from them a while back did.

If anyone is looking a for an all Inox 92FS Armco has had one for a few weeks now. I'm surprized it's been there so long. Straight dust cover too.

The part of the frame that has a serial number on it, it can be either straight or have a slight angle to it.

I have an INOX 96 Brigadier. I found out that some of the inox parts aren't inox at all, but MIM parts. My slide stop broke right at the end of the stem where it connects to the slide stop body. I am 100% sure it is MIM.

I replaced it with a black part. Not quite sure if it's carbon steel either. Will see when it breaks.

So anyway, now they use all these polymer parts, I wouldn't give money for a new Beretta these days, but if you find an older version, they are nice. If you know where to get parts, you can interchange parts from an Elite, for instance an Elite hammer, or a softer hammer spring to reduce trigger pull, taylor the gun to personal preference.
 
ok i was just at reliable they have an inox american with black parts. i read somewhere that the usa made ones have black parts because the usa plant doesnt have the time or patience to make inox parts just for the inox 92's so they just use the black ones. however i would like to point out to those out there that have not held a inox in hand and are basically looking at pics on the internet. HOLD ONE BEFORE YOU BUY. i have been stoked for a inox for long long time .since i saw jean reno holding one in ronin..absolute beaut. but i got to hold one for the first time and i dont know if it was the black parts the turned me right off. or the fact that .. the inox frame did NOT match the inox slide . now i know its alum frame and steel slide .but ... theres a huge difference in the color/shade/metal or whatever you call it. the frame looks beige to me, and the slide is perfect. if the frame was exactly the same as the slide i would have bought it and gotten some inox parts online from italy .. maybe the italian inox that have all the parts inox frame and slide match. but i was rather dissapointed. and i know what internet orders and being dissapointed on delivery is like so i want those who are interested to know.
also the one i held had red 3dot sights all i have to say to that is LAME !
talk about trying to see the red dots let alone line them up. im still very interested in an inox but i would like to see a italian made inox before i do. also i am aware italy doesnt make the inox 92fs anymore.. but still just wanted to shed my thoughts.

anyone with an all italian 92fs inox want to chime in here, im curious to hear what you have to say.

Me too. I used a sharpie marker on the front sight to make it black then used white-out (it's all I had) and painted the red dots white. MUCH better to shot with.

I also understand what WolFF is talking about regarding the Inox color. I had an American 92FS Inox with black controls I sold to buy an older American 96 with Inox controls. I think the color match of the frame to slide is better on my 96, or maybe the Inox controls just help even it out.
 
I've used white nail polish to fill in the dots on sights. Painted the entire front sight post with white nail polish too.
 
which one do you guys think or like better?
the 92FS or 90-two?
Is the only difference between 92FS and 90-two the barrel length?
I noticed that the 90-two is shorter.
 
90-two has barrel bushing (edit - meant recoil buffer), take down lever automatically resets, interchangeable back straps, and accessory rail and thats about all I can remember top of my head.
