Which 44mag - Dan Wesson Or S&w??

Hey guys,
Another 44mag q... Have a chance to buy either a S&W classic Hunter 629-5 blued with wood and hogue grips OR a newer Dan Wesson SS with a fluted 6" barrel for the same price. Which one do you think I should go for and why??

ruger redhawk- the s&w have a rep for going out of time with heavy loads- and they have a repair depot in canada- well quebec
 
I've had a few S&W model 29's and still have a 4" with factory ivory. I'm a little partial to the 29 but also I still have a Ruger flat top, with Ruger stag horn. If I was to get another 44, I've thought I'd like to 'try' a Colt Anaconda. Never had one but it would fit in nicely with my Python 357 and 22 Diamondback.
 
If it is for range work, I prefer the Ruger Super BlackHawk. Regards, Richard:)

Go with what feels good in your hand & is pleasing to the eye, firearms are like muscle cars, you would'nt buy a car that does'nt look good,,,would you??
We can all tell our tale, but your hand will know best. P.S. I like all of them!!!!

i went withe the STANDARD redhawk in both 5.5 inch and 7.5 inch- in stainless- i like the 5 inch for handiness, the 7.5 so i can mount a scope- both wear hogue grips,and i didn't want to do a chop job on a new gun- the super has a different frame and hence feels different in the hand- and the tube is at least as long if not longer- remember, the redhawk was designed around the 44 mag cartridge, although both models can take it- the super is really meant to take the 454 casull, which is about double the 44 mag-overkill in the 44 if you ask me
 
Yup, the Ruger double action RedHawk or the Super RedHawk.
Many years ago when I was interested in Metallic Silhouette shooting, the S&W's would get pounded to bits, the Rugers and Dan Wessons kept working and had a lock on the winner's circle too.
 
Wayyyy back, I used to shoot bowling pins, and IPSC revolver. I've owned half a dozen of the BIG Spit & Wobbley N frame .44 pistois, plus about the same number of N frames in .45 ACP.

I've also owned about half a dozen Ruger Redhawks. If I was looking at another .44 Magnum, it would be a Redhawk.

The S&W design works well as a single action, but if you use double action a lot, you will find the teensy tiny S&W gubbins just are not up to the guff of starting and stopping that HEAVY cylinder.
