Just checked my trail cam....you draw your own conclusions.

Just did a quick measurement off the life size mount of my cougar that is sitting not 3 feet away from me. If its a cougar I'd guess that the snow is 12 -14 inches deep. Judging by the deer photo I'd say that there is maybe 4-6 inches of snow if you're lucky. My guess is the neighbors cat. You need to prop up one of those measuring sticks that you see at the doors of gas stations and convenient stores at the bait sight and put a bowl of cat food out. You may see it again.

You should send the pic to the paper and to the MNR as they are dening any evidence of thier existance in Ontario another group that would be interested is the Ontario Puma Foundation.

Firstly If I had been in your shoes and caught a photo like this, I would have gone out of my way to detail everything I could about the surrouding spoor. Also do cougars eat apples?

it sure looks good .as far as big cats in ontario you will never convince me that thy are all gone .in about 1980 well hunting deer just outside of delhi ont in november the first gun hunt we were doing a deer drive with family uncles and aunts and grandfather and a couple of freinds we hunted an area that we had hunted for years with great suscess .well during the drive i was on post with one uncle 50 yards down from me and another 50 yards down the other way and two blockers farther down the next bush the plan was we would join the pushers as thy came thru adn carry on pushing thru to the other bockers.well as soon as the drive started i heard the guys hollaaring somthings coming so up comes the guns everybodys on alert and i see a large brown animal leap out of the bush in to the clearing in front of me so i take aim waiting for a clear shot when my one uncle hollars at me dont shot its not a deer what the hech down goes my gun wow a huge cat it made its way buy me and my uncle and on buy the other blockers aLL 5 off us saw thew same thing and i could have easly shot it but was realy taken by suprise at what i had seen it was 25 yards from me in the wide open when it when by me and it wAS A beautiful cat .needless to say that was the only year we never got a deer from that property .i am a beliver with 5 witnesses

House cat. Head is too large in proportion to the body for a cougar. Plus there is no sense of scale. If the cat is much closer to the camera than the bait pile is then it would appear larger in the crappy picture. Unless the snow suddenly changed it's depth drastically between the deer and cat pics there should be some space between the cat's body and the snow if it was in fact ac cougar. Just a tom cat.

Have you considered trying a different kind of bait (such as old meat or something) to see if it returns?
Sure looks like like a cougar to me! EEK!

The only cougars around here are on two legs and live at the night clubs downtown!:D:dancingbanana: They feed on booze and young fellas!:D
