i just wanted to check the interest of the people around to see if it would be worth it to try an organise it!
I can't really organise it myself (i'm a student with not that much time and i only been shooting for less than a year so i don't know much people in the industry and don't have my own place yet)
BUT i'm willing to help for everything i can if someone wants to step up to the job! and i can probaly provide some of the tools, tables, chairs

basicly here's what we need

we need a site or location large enough to seat up to 30 people with tables and chairs to tinker afterwards. Blackboard would be nice. Bathrooms are always handy. Then we need some open space to set up toys to play with (drill press, chop saw, welder is nice). Without this space the session would only become a minor tweak session. Big ass 5" vise would be nice for any rebarreling or re-indexing I need to do.

So... anybody in Montreal care to be my pointman ? In Calgary it was Savage, TRGod36 in Sudbury, Sosa in Edmonchuk, Slushee at EESA, JohnOne at Ottawa/Vankleek Hill, BustaCapp in Barrie.

Who wants to step up? Montreal CGNutz , I'm tossing down the gauntlet!! :D

Forgive my ignorance, but where is MTL?

EDIT- n/m .. Montreal .. and I'm going to leave this up as a reminder to everyone that its a good idea to read the entire post before responding so you dont look like an a$$hat :D

I'll see if I can setup something. Could probable get a Class space, workshop and range but it would cost. Probably for about 15 people, 30 would be tight. I<ll look into it

check how much money it could cost and we'll just split it i guess

i'll call tomorrow to see waht would be involved in renting CRAFM
because it would be an amazing place i think

Club de tir l'acadie could be a nice place as well

I would be targetting around April or May. Gotta get a Calgary clinic in around that time also. I owe those fellas.....

Like the Edmonton clinic, the Montreal clinic has the potential to get really great depending upon the tools and facilities the Montreal coordinators can muster. Sosa worked his butt off to get a chop saw, welder, flood lights, generator and all kinds of other goodies also. Other members brought a parkerizing tank and a Coleman double burner so that we parkerized a bunch of gun parts.

All depends on what the locals can bring to the table so to speak....

Are we getting excited yet ?

We have a nice new classroom which can accomodate 25 people.
There is the rifle range out back which allows shooting FMJ milsurp ammo. CRAFM does not allow FMJ if I am correct.
It is a gun friendly environment.

your right about the FMJ! and you are also right about the gun friendly environment and the rifle range is great!

that's the reason i proposed it, i've only been twice to club de tir l'acadie and tought it was great (i plan on becoming a member by next year, just waiting for some funds)

how likely would it be possible to have the clinic over at l'acadie and to set up a shop with machinery over there?

I'm not sure we could fit more than 20 people in the CRAFM classroom but the advantage of that place is that the shooting line is inside. But if it's in April/May outside would be fine too...

CRAFM doesn't allow steel ammo because it'll strike the steel plates and spark, which ignite powder residues that get in the filters and on the ground. Last time it caused them something like $12,000 in damages... FMJ is fine as long as there is no steel in it. They have crates of PMC ammo that's the equivalent of M80 ball FMJ but is steel free.

That being said, I could bring a few things: floodlight, a press drill (I'd have to put pics on here to make sure it's right), a bench vice although it's probably just 3 inches I've never measured it...

i could provide also some floodlights and a press drill
i can get a generator and possibly a welding machine ( i have to make sure it's available on the day of the clinic)
what kind of welder would we need?
and i have a pickup to transport whatever needs transportation

while we consider all of this, i was wondering about transport, on the montreal island i try to use my car the less, but taking the subway with my beast? that is out of question...
I had planned to stay the whole weekend in montreal do you think i can rent an hotel room and bring my gun in or would i have to let it in the trunk of the car... or rent a motel room ala no country for old men

if you get a motel room that you can park right in front of then there should be no problem.a lot of hunters use motels, especially outside of montreal.

Given in french or English?

Hungry here: In Franglaisie... No kidding, I 'll do this clinic in English. I did study French in ecole secondaire pour quatre ans mais maintenant je comprendez le franglaise... ha ha ha ha

Not only it's out of question but it's also now illegal thanks to the latest provincial law... Or did I read it the wrong way?
