I gota USGI Stock fiberglass.
My Question is if i want to modify it by Cutting it.... is it Solid Fiberglass or is it all soft and gooey like a Twinki inside?

It feels so light im worried if i cut it to Custom fit a T6 type stock end and pistol grip on it it will be all week and just a Fiberglass Skin with soft foam inside.

I figger hollowing out the foam and filling that area with Epoxy Filler would make it stronger again tho.

Someone musta cut into one of theses at some point i figger.

i'm pretty sure there's a METAL liner or rod or something inside- you can't just hack through aft of the pistol grip

some sections [ notably the butt and just behind the receiver ] are filled with foam. There is also a metal liner/reinforcement in the pistol grip. So, use a METAL cutting blade for the pistil grip asrea, or bad chit hoppen mon!!

I've got a USGI fiberglass stock.

It feels so light that I'm worried that if I cut it - to custom fit a T6-type stock and pistol grip on it - it will then be weak - just a Fiberglass Skin with soft foam inside.

Someone must have cut into one of these, at some point, I figure.

Ask 45ACPKING. He has gone where you would go.

OK sounds good so far. Metal Cutting Blade only.
I have done some Weird stuff before.
In the below picture you can see my FN 49 Roughly Installed in a SKS T6 stock.
It was alot of work on the milling Machine, to bed the Action top and bottom perfect.
that FN is along way to being Finished and will be a Sweet SA Rifle in 30 06 when its finished.
I now have the Steel cross pin installed in the stock and the entire action Bedded all around.
Thats quite a Job fiting the Top and Bottom of a FN 49 Action into the T 6 stock so its all nice and tight with no movement at all.
the Front end is all redesigned now with a metal holed type heat sheild right up to the gas block.
its gona be a wicked riflewhen im finished.
ive taken pics of the process so will post a thread when im all done.

Im makeing a Longer Magazine for this rifle as well, that will hold Ammo outa the Gun like them Argintines did.
But no Machineing to the Mag well receiver area in the Action.
My idea involves work to only the mag itself. Pined to 5 Rds of course ;)

The Below type of Butt section and grip is what i want to Attach to the USGI Stock.

Im impressed - congrats !

The M14 glass stock is simply 2 fiberglass halves glassed together and foam filled - there is 2 metal reinforcements - at the bottom, aft of the trugger group recess and at the top from the receiver recess to the rear. Hacksaw works quick and easy....
