either you do not hunt much or your the most amazing hunter on the face of the planet. I have never met a hunter who downs an animal every time they enter the woods until now are you real is CROWCA really the chuck norris of hunting or just a keyboard commando?

As for sharing tags our group also likes to shoot our own animals we hunt the first week on our own tags then the 2nd week we shoot what we see....sometimes the guys with anterless tags are not the ones who see Doe's and some times the guy who only has an antlered tag only see's Doe's......the point in the end is to have meat in the freezer I like hunting for that big deer of a life time but as the season nears to an end the reality that you may not get a deer sets in. I would rather have venison in the freezer and no rack on the wall then to have nothing at all.

You guys hunt to fill tags. Nothing wrong with that, but that's not why I hunt.

I don't want someone else filling my tag, I'd rather it go unfilled.

I don't know if it is an East vs West thing.

Everyone likes to get a big buck, right?

Can't expect to get a big buck if you show up at your hunting location a day before the season opens with no real scouting since the last year, then hunt for a week and shoot the first thing that wanders by.

You might get lucky and get a big one, but the odds are stacked against you.

The way it works here 12-14yrs old hunters are apprentace hunters who have to be accompanied by an adult,and don't have their own tag( technically your tag is also their tag).So if your tag was too important for you to fill yourself,it would really suck to be an apprentace hunter to hunt with youself.Not sure how it works out there though.
 
Where we hunt we could get 7 tags.One original and 6 more additional tags.3 for bow and 3 for shot gun or muzzle loader.
I don't know of anyone who,actually buys that many tags.Two is the norm one in bow season and one in the gun season.

Youth hunters can hunt on a guardians licence here.

Are ALL the hunters using other peoples tags in your party youths?

Nope,but a good number of them are.I have absolutly no gripe of tagging someone elses deer,because I know someone will tag mine.

I will make things a little more clear for you.
#1.Some hunters only hunt a few days,so their tags are used first.If they happen to get a deer after their tag was used someone else tags their deer.
#2.Others just hunt the first week so their tage get used up the first week also.If they happen to shoot a deer after their tak is filled someone else tags their deer.
#3.Second week hunters that have no plans to bow hunt tags get used next,then the same scenario if they happen to get a deer if their tag was used.
We rarely fill all our tags so it all works out fine.

As I said, your primary reason is to fill tags. Nothing wrong with that, just not something I am interested in.

I'd rather hunt the whole season and not fill my tag, than to have someone use mine. (Wouldn't be legal in BC, anyway, but hypothetically)

Still has nothing to do with seniors comment about beatign your chest and proclaiming that you shot a deer!

You just confirmed it.
Most of our guys would tell you, 'you can't eat horns' (well. ok, technically antlers).
Yeah, they are happier with a big buck, but getting any deer is for most of them, a big deal, a big buck, just a bonus.

While living in Fort Mac I have seen Stubblejumper at the the range. When i was also heavy into bodybuilding i witnessed his training regiment for his elk and sheep hunts. Bottom line, the man is a premier hunter, shooter and takes care of himself. He also uses top of the line equipment and i mean top of the line. Captonian i can guarantee you have bit off way more than you can chew here.

Its more about conserving tags for those who want to continue hunting later,such as bowhunting,or just poking around yourself.

I can see where your coming from.
If your tag is full your hunt is over?Here even if your tag has been filled you can still hunt with others so long they have tags.It could be a very short hunt for a meat hunter there.
For someone who would take the full two weeks off to hunt would be pretty bored if he/she filled their tag on the first day.No offence,but I think I like our system better.

One can be the best there is, with the best equipment in the world but when personality lacks, and he cant read and comprehend what other members are saying, IT ALL AMOUNTS TO NOTHING.:D
