k100 grand power

I shot it quite a bit.
Found it fairly accurate, points naturally for me and built well.
I dont think you will be disappointed with a K100. The owner of the company is a member here (Yaro or something like that)

Very nice gun. I've had the old model for just about 3-4 years and no problems so far; it eats everything I feed it.

The only thing I don't like is the safety. It's easy to flip on in the middle of a match when you are moving fast; If I could I would get the blended safety upgrade they offer on the GrandPower website. That said, if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't hesitate to buy the K100.

STI makes them now and they're called the GP-6. I haven't shot one though, can't really comment on them.

I wouldn't say STI makes 'Them' Now.

They do have their own version now. As I understand, Grandpower is Slovakian. For $600 it is a good gun.... the STI version for $100's more is a little high.

I've got one and love it. Little to no percieved recoil. Accurate as heck. Points well. Ambi everything including the mag release which doesn't require switching sides to use.

The trigger in single action is as good as a tuned 1911, and the reset is better. The double action pull is as good as the Beretta 92.

STI market a version still made by Grand Power. It's importable to the US, which is important if you want to shoot down south. I've got one on order.

Since no critique is fair if the negatives are not raised, the gun has only two flaws IMHO. Mine runs like a top, but reliability suffers if you are running dirty powder. Clean burning ammo will likely cause you no grief, but if you burn Win 231, you'll need to clean it quickly. After 200+ rounds, the slide on mine get's pretty sluggish.

The other thing I don't love is the detents for the safety. Mine is the older thin metal safety, and the detents are not positive, and somewhat mushy. It's somewhat of a moot point however, as in Production class for IPSC, I NEVER use the safety.

As for the guns build quality, it's top notch. It's relatively easy to field strip. Detail cleaning is not as easy as a 1911, only because the detents that hold the safety in place are really easy to loose and damned hard to re-install.

ive heard it takes cz75 mags as well anyone else hear that?

Yes and no. The mag tube is the same, but there is an additional hole punched in the front for the central mag catch. Standard CZ-75 mags can be converted, and of course you can use GP mags in your CZ.

the STI GP6 is just a rebadged Grand Power K100 Mk6

That being said, I have a K100 mk6 with fibre sights, its an awesome gun. Definately my favorite, accurate shot, comfortable in my hand, nice construction..... if I could change one thing about it, it would be pulling down the trigger guard to release the slide for field stripping.

the one i am getting is a new 2 tone mark 6 its sandy tan on the frame and black on the slide. i am a lefty so i fell in love its controls istantly!:dancingbanana:

thank you for the info on the mags as i understand k100 mags are around 75$ but cz are 50$

The K-100 is a great pistol IMO, not as easy to shoot as the CZ SP-01 but it feels much nicer in the hand. An interesting feature worth mentioning is the "mag in slide release" as I'll call it. When the slide is locked back and you slam a mag into the pistol the slide will release and chamber a round, pretty handy as the slide release on this pistol is quite stream lined.

I have had problems with shooting American Eagle ammunition through this pistol, but the magazines were quite new and it's my understanding that other pistols do the same thing with new mags. S&B ammunition was gobbled up willingly by the K-100.

You'll love the DA trigger on the K-100, don't get your hopes up in regards to the SA though ;)

I have an older, 2-tone model K-100, and liked it so much I bought another. A Mk6 this time. Both shoot very well and pretty much gobble up almost everything I feed them. I tried cast lead bullets in my 2-tone and it didn't like them at all. Couldn't even get a half mag out without problems. FTF, failure to cycle, stovepiping, dirty as hell........the only thing it did 100% is piss me off! Switched back to FMJ's and she runs like a top again.

(E)

Where are you purchasing the K100 from? Last I checked K100 mags were $35 at TSE.

I wasn't aware you could get the K100 in a tan colour. Do you have any pictures?

last time I wanted to get a couple mags at TSE, they were out, and the time before that they only had one (stupidly I didnt get it) :(

Sorry, I cleaned TSE out when I bought mine.:p

However, when Freedom Arms get there shipment, give Sean a call. There was talk of bringing in mags that are not laser cut.

So you're to blame ;)

Thanks for the tip on Freedom.

Am I the only one that hates those laser cut mags?

I understand mags need to be restricted, however, that cut seems like a bad idea to me.

Otherwise I'll get some CZ75 mags and mod them :)

I talked with Sean about them a while back. I hoped his pull as one of the bigger STI international dealers might carry some weight. Sean was already working on STI, e-mailing them pictures of failed and cracked laser cut mags from other vendors.

I believe the origional idea behind the laser cuts was to satisfy BATFE that the mags were not readily able to be converted to high cap, but I don't know if there ever was a legal requirement.

With so many US States having 10 round limits, being able to ship a quality 10 round mag is important domesticly as well as abroad.

I'm crossing my fingers.

My friends 70 year old mother in law passed her RPAL tests last weekend, and is apparently excited that I have guns, and wants to shoot my K100 when she comes to Calgary to visit my friend and his family at Christmas.

I suppose I'll let her shoot it, just for the entertainment value alone. :)
