Good thing it wasn't 50 yds. It probably wouldn't have stuck in. With the poor balistic coeficient on that stubby thing it looses 90% of its speed in the first 100 yds. Well...... it might stick in.

Nope. Expansion was initiated via blue plastic tip!

That picture looks like a copy of the deer I shot this year with a 100 TSX out of my 25-06. Mine are going 3100 and deer was only 25 yards away.

The TSX is the of High Velocity impact. They hold together very well.

Any bullet at that velocity will do some serious damage.

All the gore you are seeing is mostly blood that gushed out the hole when I tipped the deer over. I salvaged at least 1/2 of the shoulder, no loins injured and I'm not a fan of deer ribs.

I literally lost no more than 2 lbs of shoulder meat- Given identical bullet placement with most cartridges of 30-06 range +/- I'd expect the same results with a 30 yard shot.

But yes, a .308 would work fine. Probably do about the same damage, though
