i looked into this a while ago,
heres the info rollie ,
therse 2 226 models that are hand built all steel and no rail its called the 226 SL it only comes in 9mm , and you can get it in illaflon (black. more black than nitron) and stainless version. just like the elite stainless. the sport stock and all that they dont make anymore. however in europe they sell an all stainless frame and slide in steel 226 with rail in 9mm and 40cal . but it has the rail and looks just like the standard 226 nitrons we get here. all are huge coin. first off in germany the sl goes for huge coin .i think the cheapest i saw was something like 1600 euros. then add some shipping and duty and you get the point, and the other 226 all steel with the rail is not too far behind but very close maybe 100euros less than the SL , the SL is designed to be a ipsc gun in europe the all steel with the rail is designed for LE/MILITARY .so the SL costs more because its more fine tuned and hand built. much different than the USA made ( or half USA ,depends on how you look at it) stuff we get here. but then we you are paying 2500 for a standard sig 226 , why not get an X5, which is a whole different ball game. so your better off getting a stainless elite for your money.
if you want some more info , you should check out

thats technically the official european website, as the
www.sigsauer.com is the usa stuff.
by the way in europe they call the aluminum frames AL-
and the solid steel SL
all the sports , sport stock . sportstock II and all them have been discontinued for a while. though there are quite a few floating around the states. if you could find one they arent that badley priced. and then maybe get questar to import it for you . still will cost alot more than a standard 226 and prolly more than the 1500buck stainless elite, as they are rare down there
heres another read about the differences between the sport stock and all those ... ( i was never that into the extended weighted barrel) but this is a good read. for sig enthus,.

the other thing you could do, is buy a elite stainless in the states, have it sent to grayguns have them grind of the rail and beavertail or find an ST and get the rail grinded off. ive seen some of there stuff they can make sigs look really cool. and then have them send it off to be coated and painted whatever you want.. but thats a rather extreme route .
btw, i hate the rail myself, .and i like beaver and tail, but not on my sigs.
hope this helps
