aperture size on tang sights?

I am wondering if the size of the aperture on the tang sight actually has any effect on accuracy. It is much easier to see the front sight & target with the bigger hole when I unscrew the aperture on my reciever sights, but I havn't tried any paper punching to see the effects on accuracy
 
Too small an aperature will distort the sight picture for sure.
mostrexperienced peep sight hunters take the insert right out for hunting, as it serves more for auto-alignment ( tech term) than for pure accuracy shooting while hunting.
A very large insert is not nearly as important IMO......

I can honestly say I see no diff on paper at 100yds between small or completely removed aperature. It's just a lot harder & slower to get on target with it in!
 
so there should be no worries about drilling the aperture out to allow me to see everything a little better? Like moving the holes around on a Hadley eye cup type sight right? I think I'd only go a couple of drill sizes to start and see how that works
 
You may want to re-blue the drilled out hole. I drilled out a peep sight and the next day tried to shoot the gun in some bright sunlight. The glare from the bright metal was causing some weird sight pictures.
