Your choice for a 1000 yd scope

I do like my NF scope.
That being said my Zeiss Conquest scopes are very nice as well. I went with them instead of Leupold VXIII. I like the Leupold scopes but I find the Conquest are just a bit nicer while at the same price. I've got the 1000 yard reticle Conquests on my 5R and DPMS LR-308. Excellent glass and reticle.

6500 has nice glass as well. I'm just not wild about the rest of the scope, or the name.

The only bargain scope I would consider are the Falcon Menace scopes. Pretty good and the cost is reasonable.

Bushnell gives you a jacket free with every 6500 they can flog right now!

 Great. It's not a straight jacket is it? :D
Like I said good glass, decent scope but I find it priced too close to the other stuff which I prefer plus the shortcomings I would find very difficult to live with. The biggest one being the reticle choice. Love the Rapid Z reticles on Conquest, also Leupold, NF and the major guys have very nice reticles. The Falcon ones are excellent too.

:sniper:I HAVE LOOKED THROUGH MOST HIGH END SCOPES THAT HAVE BEEN MENTIONED AND PERSONALLY IT DEPENDS ON HOW GOOD YOUR VISION IS. I have a MK 4 SITTING ON MY 50 BMG AND SO FAR I WOULD TAKE IT OVER ALL OF THE REST FOR THE $$$. A LIFETIME WARRENTY TO WHOMEVER OWNS THE GLASS FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD. GOOD SOLID CLICKS AND TIGHT PARALEX ADJUSTMENT. IT IS ONLY MY OPINION BUT A .308 for a grand I would get something a little more. Happy shooting

I found that the MK4s while decent scopes ran out of magnification on my 50s so went with the NF 8x32x56 on all of my 50s as well as my 338LAIs. If you can't see it, how can you hope to hit it.
NF is lifetime warranty just like Leupold by the way.
Either way good quality optics are never a bad investment.

Cheap glass is not good & good glass is not cheap, if you think any different your kidding yourself. This stuff is not like comparing name brand clothing the price is all based on the quality & craftmanship.

Folks have been talking about the brands - on a tech level, you should consider 10x to be your minimum, then determine your eye relief requirements (do you wear glasses? A fixed power may be better) and what kind of shooting (daytime range shooting may not need a 56mm objective).

All things to consider ... on the brand side, I've been satisfied with NF (5.5-22x56mm), IOF Valdada (16x42mm) & B&L (10x40mm) to 900m. But I'm getting older and the 10x is going on my .223 now for magpies and other vermin - I consider the 16x to be my personal minimum for .308 at 900m now.
