Looking for someone to spray duracoat!

I live in woodstock ontario. I got a USGI stock sprayed Tactical Black from fab sports which looks amazing on my norc M14

I recently got myself one of those cheek rests that you drill two holes for to install, but the only thing is its a really 'shiny' black. Is there someone close to me who would be able to spray duracoat on the cheek rest and possibly the black knobs for me?

ps-i'd try it myself but I live in an apt and dont think it would work out so well :redface:
 
cant you try krylon? people paint their whole stock with krylon. from my understanding a matte black krylon paint spray exists, i was just about to go out buy one

edit: abotu that cheek riser, did you get it from desertwarriorproducts? i wanted to buy one... can you post pictures?

I duracoated my 870 in my condo (apartment) and it worked out fine; both the shotgun and the apartment :D Just set yourself up a backstop and you'll be fine. Use the Duracoat one, because it isn't cheap but more importantly it is a very good product.

Or otherwise, how does one spray duracoat if it does not come in a spray can?

EDIT-yup its a dessert warrior products cheek rest all right. Its not the prettiest thing I've ever seen, but functionally .. man .. it lets you get an AMAZING cheek weld! It even improved my cheek weld with iron sights! The 'blued' knobs are a bit rusty though .. so i've yet to send an email to dessert warrior products about that. If I find a way to coat the cheek rest and knobs though, i'll prolly just scotch bright off the rust and not worry about getting them replaced. I'll try to post pics tommorrow.

You need to buy a spray gun. I found one in a local hobby shop for $30 (Badger brand I think) that takes cans of compressed air, no need for a compressor and it did the job great.
 
fab sports sells a little airgun that comes with a compressed air can I think it's about 30 bucks or if you have a compressor they sell a nice little airbrush for about 30 bucks too.
 
duracoat sells kits for i think for about 40 bucks us funds. i bought a kit for my mossy 500, did it my self and it was very easy to do, i would go that route instead of paying someone to do it
 
Preval Aerosol disposable Sprayer (PAS9) cost only 18 $, it's a spray and a bottle, it's all you need for use duracoat if you don't use compressor and airbrush.

Or you can take the EZ Airbrush Kit (EZ-STARTER) for 25 $ + an Airbrush Propellant (NO17) for 13.95 $ = 38.95 $.

Preval is just #### for paint job, spray WAY too much material, it's a waist of bots, paint AND money, use Wall-Mart air brush instead

1 or 2 moore, is not hard to do and i have all the equipement, Devil-biss 60 gal. compressor AND D-B air dryer, HVLP and Air Brush too, i have
5 or 6 color still in stock, also, we live close

What type of prep. is needed for the stock & metal before painting? Sand? Primer?

Has anybody used the Camo Packages sold by Fabsports? Would like to get an opinion from somebody before I buy. Pics ?

and more; http://www.duracoat-firearm-finishes.com/ alot of colour choices, they even have a CADPAT template/colour system. I haven't used the Camo Packages though, sorry no help there. But their products are straight forward and easy to use in my opinion.

Easy to use, only need time and proper equipements, DON'T USE sand paper, the paint is so THIN, you will see all the mark under it, and if you paint on WOOD, you can sand but finish with 400grit or so, you apply DURAFILL or ARMAFILL (if from armacoat) BEFORE and THEN paint...

All the rest, plastic, fiber glass, aluminium, steel stainless steel etc... is bed blast OR sand blast at different pressure to have a uniform and tough finish
Never paint on a SHINY spot, don't stick well...

i made mine out if 1/8th inch UHMW, got the bolts and knobs from RONA store. UHMW is that plastic cutting board material, cut it with a soldering iron blade attachment and gently heated with an propane torch on the underside, then bent the heated uhmw using the buttstock as a "die". ended up with a perfectly fitting adustable cheekrest for about 17.00 including the hardware. ;) simple is as simple gets..... and from the sounds of it, I saved a whole lotta time and $$$ waiting to get one from the u.s.
