AR-15 question

I'm not sure if there is an actual black and white, be-all-to-end-all complete, 100% accurate list, but the newer Stags are marked .223. Most Armalite lowers seem to be marked 5.56, as are the Bushmasters that I have seen. Colt 6920's are marked 5.56. I'm sure others here have more knowledge to add...

good luck getting the 5.56mm marked ones anymore...the US state department just changed the rules and are not allowing the export (and maybe production too) of any gun or part labelled with a military calibre.

Anything we get now will be marked .223

That said, Wolverine got in probably one of the last shipments of 5.56 marked lowers last week..i got mine! muahaha

chrisward3, can i ask which brand? is it the eagle arms?

no...u cant...

haha...ya man, its the Armalite ones, marked as aramlite (no mention of eagle arms at all). if u really want one, id suggest callign asap...they got them in on wednedsay i think, bought mine thursday and i think they said they had one or two left.

Having a lower that says 5.56 means??

I think you are reading a little too much into the no more 5.56 talk.

The rules were changed back in May.
I don't think they will stop producing 5.56 or 7.62.
The restriction is for chambering. Armalites will be coming with .223 barrels now.

Having Rifles marked .223 does not mean the rifle is inferior, Both RRA?? and Stag are .223.

Wolverine will just bring in Sabre lowers marked 5.56

Like it matters... It's the chambering of the upper that really tells ya what you should be feeding the thing...

But seriously, what does it matter once they are in Canada?

It means absolutely nothing, except that from now on, we will no longer see many new lowers with 5.56 marked on them. So, if you have a real love or need for a lower with 5.56 on it, you had better hurry. If nothing else, it becomes a bit of a conversation piece...I too ordered one of the stripped lowers from Wolverine; not because it has 5.56 marked on it, but because it was a good price.

an upper chambered for .223 can only fire .223 because the 5.56 round produces a lot more pressure as it fires. An upper chambered in 5.56 can fire both 5.56 and .223

Where can one buy 5.56 military rounds in Canada anyway? My gun shop only has 223, as does Canadian Tire and WalMart. Not like I care, just curious since the original poster wants a 5.56 rifle.

Some of the sponsors sell bulk 5.56.

I've called a few local shops and asked about bulk 5.56, and none have been helpful. You'll likely have to mailorder.
