Specific Game - Specific Calibre

I use a .204 for coyote, 25.06 for deer, 30.06 for Moose/bear, have never hunted the others mentioned......yet.
If I could only have one gun it would be the 30.06, although there wouldn't be much left of the 'yotes
 
Deer - 308 Win in a Savage 99 scoped. In the bush, in the field its a perfect deer gun.

Elk - Remington 673 (or much less ugly Model 7) in 350 Remington Mag, nice little rig for Elk Hunting (so I'm told)

Moose - Savage 114 in 300 Win Mag

Black Bear - use either the Elk or Moose rifle.

Brown Bear - 9.3 x 62 in a strong action allowing me to loud the crap out of it. Or go with something a little more mainstream. Maybe give the 375 Ruger a go?

coyote- .50/70

deer- .460 WBY*

elk- .50 BMG

Black Bear- .257 STW

Grizzly- 6.5x55 Mauser

*Except mule deer, for which I'd prefer the .416 Lazzeroni Meteor

Actually, on second thought, I'd just use a .270 for all of them.

Ive used my .270 for everything but grizzly but if I were to choose 1 for each it would be (today that is likely change tomorrow ;) )

deer - bush - .338 Federal
open - 6.5-06

Elk - bush - .338-06
open - .300 Win Mag

Moose - bush - .35 whelen
open - .280 Rem

Black Bear - bush - .358 win
open - .30-06 Sprg

Grizzly - .375 H&H Mag

What if its windy??? What if its cloudy???? What if your camo pants are still in the wash and you are wearing your khaki cargo pants??? What caliber for each animal then??:confused:
 
deer, - .308
elk, - .308
moose, - .308
black bear, - .308
grizzly, - .308
Or any one of a dozen other fully adequate standard cartridges.
 
Vermin .... .223 or 22/250.

Deer .... .308, 257Roberts, 270Win, 35Whelen.

Moose .... 35Whelen, 375H&H, 375 Chatfield-Taylor.

deer ~ 260 Remington with 120 gr TTSX

elk ~ 338-06 with 210 gr TTSX

moose ~ 9.3x62 with 250 gr Accubonds

black bear ~ 45/70 with 420 gr hard cast

grizzly - 375 Ruger with 260 gr Accubonds
 
Well I can only comment on the ones that I have shot!

Deer 257s, 6.5s, 270, 308

Moose 300s, 338s, 350s

Bear 300s, 45-70

But I would not be affraid to shoot anything that walkes on NA with a little 257 wby or 264 win mag and a TSX bullet.
