anyone have any idea what the classification for this gun is in canada? im not sure if it is a new manufactured receiver or not, but im thinking that that would be the defining factor

HAS to be New made reciever or its prohibited

spend the several K import one and see what rcmp says be prepared to wait up to 2 years and LOSE you $ and gun

thats IF you can get a us export permit for it

WARNING VALKYRIE ARMS. Several years ago we ordered some new semi auto M3 SMG for the Canadian market. We had them specially built for us with retractable butt stocks and integral dummy suppressors that hid an 18.6 inch barrel, these would have looked extremely close to the model used by the OSS in WWII and had them as non restricted in Canada. We paid “Dear Valery” at Valkyrie Arms a hefty deposit, $12,000, we have never seen the guns and despite promises of a refund never seen a dollar either. I understand she is bankrupt now. Now with changes to the US Export regulations these would never be approved for export.

This is good reason why anyone considering importing firearms needs to tread carefully!

As mentionned above, VA has a less than stellar reputation.
FWIW, the FRT # is 89455-1 for their standard M3A1 with 8" barrel and a 5 rd. magazine, classed as restricted.
Academic, though, as the likelihood of ever getting one is remote.

oh yea, i forgot about the export restrictions. there goes that idea

somehow its always impossible to get the ww2 weapons im really interested in

Ouch, that sucks. I am surprised Valkyrie didn't ask Obama for a bailout.

I suppose it all depends on what you are looking for. I'm sure you have read the semi auto Sten threads. Then there are the BD reproductions.

the sten threads interest me, but i have no access to a shop otherwise i would probably give it a try. the BD ones are great, but out of my price, and if im honest its the allied sub guns that interest me the most

figured id add this in this thread instead of making a new one

what about these?

Sten, Thompson, M3, Lanchester, PPSh, PPS, PPD, Reising. What did I miss? If you want something to shoot, the semi auto Sten is about the only option. Thompsons are named prohibs, the VA M3A1 is basically a no go, there are semi PPSHs and PPSs being made in the US, the Reising isn't a named prohib, but apart from the rather rare Model 60, which would be restricted because of barrel length, they are either 12(2) or (3). Australian Owens or Austens are very uncommon, and again would be (2) or (3).
Not a whole lot of options.

re-your link above - 1. export problems. 2. many of these reproductions being made in the US use part of the original receiver in the remanufacture. That is the kiss of death for anything to be accepted in this country. 3. The US barrel length really changes the gun.
