Retarded Club Rules?

Imagine if we didn't have the internet... Out west we would be blazing away with full mags, shooting solo and have NO IDEA the rest of Canada was making up dumb rules on top of stupid laws.

What?? You mean you aren't doing that now? I thought everyone ran full capacity mags, select fire rifles and carried their pistol...F*ck, I better catch up on current events. Next thing you know the government might try to take my guns away....Who am I kidding that'll never happen.

My point was we would have no idea of the stupid rules others' in Canada put up with.

I don't know how you got the impression we use select fire rifles, but many of us legaly carry our handguns.
Well yes, the Gov't is after your guns, thats not new news at all.

Myself, I am still a member of most hypocritical range in Ontario. They put many restrictions on new shooters and club is not handgun friendly, not mention IPSC. On the other hand, BPD, RCMP, and other organization are allowed to shoot full-auto !!!, move up and down with handguns or M4 sometimes with finger right on the trigger (I have seen it).
To practice, they not only use paper targets with human face and ears but also molded from plastic upper body which they shoot full auto till it falls down.
This club send this to me:
"...The Executive is considering some proposed changes to the acceptance of new members due to the number of concerns brought forward by the membership; mainly that the Club is losing sight of its conservation objectives and becoming a “gun club”..."

Petty, isn't?

Glad your happier

Welland Handgun Club has that rule too, I'm happier at Silverdale anyway. I don't have to deal with a table full of old guys grousing about everything on my way through to the range.

We have revamped the rules cause of all the gold triggers - but our rules are for SAFETY not politically correct fudd stoopid rules ! Glad to have you aboard !

Barrie Gun Club no doubt.

Sometimes I wonder just whose side the executive of that club are on.

Wow.....

Just Wow....
After reading this thread... I can say that I live Around the Ottawa Area And have been a member at 2 of our Clubs, RA Center & EOHC.

The RA is a Structured Club (City and all) With "normal" rules common sence... and supervised (hard to get in if no one has the key right?) yet there was really nothing wrong with that.

The EOHC is a more relaxed sort of club, You can shoot by your self,(infact unless you go on a weekend you are usually by yourself) With whatever you bring, And it is assumed you are Inteligent enough to respect the posted "Normal" rules, and Canadian laws.

each has its own "safty" course and introductions but nothing as odd as some that have been posted.

I Guess I have just been luckey in that the clubs that I have joined had some respect for the Members/shooters and didn't treat us as Morons.

It is up to the members present to keep an eye out for each other IF theres more then one person on that range......

To the poster that saw the moron fireing over the mounds... I assume you said something to them?...it's that sort of nonsence that feeds the anti's.... :slap:

just my 2Cents....

(Something spelled wrong?... no that's just how I spell it.)

Those of you that whine and haven't put up your hand to be in the executive, get out there and do something about it! Get onto the executive and change things or stop whinning.

Greg

How do you know we don't try to get to executive?
Sometimes 'old school' guys don't let any changes to happen.
It is sad, they care only about coffee and BBQ/beer

I never said get to them. I said be them. Get the people that think that way out. I am sure your clubs have elections. Put your name forward and get people to back you. If all they care about is coffee, bbq, and beer; then you have half your solution figured out already.

Some other dumb rules I've seen

1) No rapid fire.. only 1 shot every 5 seconds..
2) No FMJ's (outdoor range with large backstops, I can't shoot a 223 FMJ but a 300 RUM is fine.. :S)
3) caliber restrictions.. you have to "qualify" (Shoot 20 at a target) before you can move up a caliber..
4) Shotguns can only be uncased on the the bench (but the transportation rules allow you to transport it uncased.. Duh...)
5) 1500 FPS max on all Ammo (22 Mag is higher the 1500 is banned but a .50 magnum is perfectly fine)
6) you must case all ipsc pistols if walking between outdoor ranges (side by side)no keeping them in the holster.
