I have been trying to find a US GI OP Rod Spring for my new Norinco M14S as per the recommendation of Lazarus2000 in his sticky.
Brownells has :
M1 GARAND & M1A/M14 SPRINGS
Mfr: WOLFF
M1A/M-14 Recoil Spring $13.99
and
Garand/M1A/M14 Hammer Spring $7.49

Is the recoil spring the same as a OP Rod Spring?
Will the M-14 Recoil Spring work in a Norinco M14S?
If not, where can I get the springs?
Thanks for helping a newbie out.

I have bought the same springs for my M14's off brownells

At the same time buy national match oprod spring guide, either sadlak or badger ordnance, that will be perfect. Otherwise you will have a much larger spring on a smaller guide.

For the hammer spring you'll need a second pair of hand but its worth it.

i'm in a dilemna here, saving money for getting a reload equipment or upgrade internal parts for my m305

I ordered the "M-14 Match Grade Stainless Op Rod Spring Guide (new mfg.)" from Marstar when I ordered the rifle.
Is this as good or should I go ahead and order one from Brownell's?

anything not from norinco tends to be better quality
but i think you should check www.fabsports.ca he's a dealer here, and pieces are traveling from montreal he has a sadlak op-rod spring guide I'm interested in, but my funds are very low right now.

I took your advice and ordered the Badger spring guide from Brownells.

Thanks for the help. I didn't realize they carried Sadlak . I would have bought it from them instead.

Thats great, the marstar would have been appropriate, the badger one will fit the USGI spring diameter more correctly as the marstar one is sized for the norinco spring. I have both guides and I personally prefer the sadlak for fit.

Enjoy !

I'd go for the reloading kit. The improvement in your skills from shooting your 14 more and tweaking your reloads for accuracy will likely give better results than minor internal improvements...

yeah but a reloading kit, i can in no way afford one right now and internal upgrading is pretty cheap:D no seriously, i also figured i should go with reloading but i think i will really need a cheek riser tho, im using a bushnell 4200 4x16x50, i beleive will sit pretty high (not mounted yet, i have no rings)
