The Kamloops target Sports Association is about to begin its 2008-09 Winter league shoots. These are an informal drop-in fun match, shot at 300M ISSF targets. This is open to F and TR shooters and the course of fire is 4X 10 round strings plus sighters. There is $5.00 drop-in fee to cover targets etc. and the remainder goes into the pot for an end-of-season get together.

To those that have contemplated trying competitive shooting, this is definitely the place to start! The shooters are all extremely welcoming of new shooters. All you need is a rifle (no magnums and less than 8mm) with a scope and a bipod or rest. This is a great way to see just how well your Savage or Remington rifle performs at 300M as each shot is indicated by a target marker (you get to have a turn pulling targets too!)

KTSA is a private club and membership is required for access, however those who are interested in trying this shooting can be signed-in. If you are interested in coming out, please contact me and I will help arrange a sponsor for you.

New shooters are more than welcome and there is no such thing as a dumb question (although I cannot vouch for the quality of my answer!) , so feel free to drop me a line.

Ian, are the dates fixed? Or just when the weather allows. It might be the only way I can get anything done before spring. Saturday and Sunday? I know it's a long hike for an afternoon but I think we've all travelled further for less. I can rationalize a trip to loopyville for this.

Cheers, Glen

Every Sunday Glen. Weather always permits bullets to get chucked down range. :D

I think we canceled one Sunday last year due to the fact that there wasn't going to be enough people in town that particular weekend. But we knew that ahead of time.

Hmmmm........every Sunday eh! Let's see now, if I leave.............. Yup, I can do it. Perfect. Thanks Richard. I'm going to try to talk Kodiak into this too. He's not that far east o' here.
Cheers, Glen

Well, today was about as good as it gets condition wise!!! Richard (CyaN1de) and I were having a trigger pulling contest with us each shooting 400/400 and 35 and 37 out of 40 "X"'s respectively... Richard had frikken scary half inch groups at 300M! all that was "wrong" was his MPOI and he was shooting 107's at only 2600~fps!!! fast does NOT equal accurate!!! (oh yeah... it was a set back shot-out barrel for those that say set-backs don't work well)

There were a couple more 400's out there as well. We were glad that sad-sack Taylor didn't come because we didn't want to make him wear a hockey helmet and Depends as it was cold and he would have stuck his tongue on something again... Not to mention the fact he tries to dry-hump Richard whenever he does his Margret Thatcher imitation!

The invite still stands for those that would like to come out and give f-class shooting a try! Bring your Savage, your Remington, hell, even bring your Norinco! It is a great time and a good introduction to the sport!

Hell, yeah!
Wish I could join you guys, but money is becoming really tight just now... However, if Kamloops stores were open Sundays, I could get the wife to drop me off while she shops....
...and now you know why money is a problem just now! :D
j/k, but I'm not comfortable with our current debt level, so I've got to beat that down before I can indulge in fun and games.

Have some fun for me!

DEBT!!! when has that become anything to worry about?? look at the USA "the greatest nation on earth" when to much debt gets them in trouble, what do they do! create some more debt!! that fixes everything, don't it

Guys, I have got to say I'm jealous. I'd love to be able to partake in those Sunday shoots! Those don't happen in Prince George.

Oh yeah, and the fact that it's -17 with a wind chill taking it to -30 today...not sure I'd partake here today even if there was a shoot going on! ;)

Hi Guys, if I get a membership and get out there for the weekend, could we use the Range on Saturday for testing and stuff then shoot the match Sunday? I'd like to make a trip out after Christmas (we have relates there and wifey knows where all the malls are) Depends on when I get my stuff back from the gunguy.
I'd love some refreshing weather that's not -30 and -40 with the wind. It's supposed to tank this weekend again with the highs at -29 again.

Cheers, Glen
