a buddy of mine knows a guy who is a guide(should know a little about guns) and he hates the 870s. would a stoeger be a better choice? i'm looking for 3 1/2" w/ the camo paintjob. and can you shoot lead shot and steel shot through the same barrell? thanks

I'm a guide and I love them

does that cancel out the other guide who hates them? ;)

(personally I think he's on crack, they are fantastic, value priced, bombproof shotguns)

And the police should know the gun laws. What should be isn't always is.
Did you ask him why he hates the 870?

Both lead and steel shot would work.

I think the 870's reputation speaks for itself.... but what about a Browning BPS?

870's are a thing of beauty.

I have both a 870 Wingmaster and Browning BPS.

The BPS is rock solid...great great shotty! (Less money than a Wingmaster too)

Still, the action on the 870 is smoother...

You know what?

I know lots of guys with 3 1/2-inch capable shotguns and they all use three-inch shells.

Ya, you don't really need a 3.5" chalmber.

Waterfowl is probably the only thing where it's a nice option, and quite honestly, I've knocked down ducks this year using cheap 2&3/4 inch shells.
