Canada Ammo 1911 pics / Range report updated!!!

I don't think Jeff Cooper would buy a Norinco. ;)

Mr. Cooper, rest his soul, was a practical man. He respected and advocated 1911's, especially "functional" ones. I base the following on my own observation of over 25 years of owning/collecting/shooting/loving 1911's: I think the only thing that may have prevented Mr. Cooper from buying a Norinco 1911 would be the country of origin. Not the pistol itself.... ;)

I don't believe that in his later years Col. Cooper actually had to BUY guns. Many gun companies simply sent him guns. In a life and death situation, the good Colonel would use whatever came to hand, even a Norc.

I tweaked the pics a bit.

That two tone is SOOOOOOO HOT.

So what is all this "remove the extended slide stop" chat all about, I dont know much about the norc or handguns for that matter, where exactly is the slide stop on the 1911's and how short is the shorter version?

Thanks

Nothing wrong with them. I just lean slightly more towards the all blued (slightly) for my personal preference.

+1

I checked out the two tone version in person at a local gunshow last month. A well known dealer had one for sale for $399. Just wanted to see how the new Norcs stacked up to previous offerings. Fit & finish seemed to be very good. But just couldn't warm up to the two tone. Based on that I ordered the "all blue" from Can-Am myself. Just waiting for it to be 'processed'..... First thing going is the extended slide stop [already got a standard one] and then the grips will get swapped out for a set of double diamond hardwoods. Beyond that, we'll see....

I'm going to try and change my order to a blued one tommrow. I already have a two peice guide rod with hex head, ISMI recoild spring, and standard slide stop ready. I might wanna get novak sights.

Two-Tone Shooting Fun

Went to the range yesterday. I love my new Norc 2-tone. Shoots to point of aim very well. 2-3 inch groupings. Big heavy steel gun eats most of the recoil. 100 rounds, no stoppages, failures etc. The only thing I may change are the grips. This may incur some wrath, but, I find the arched mainspring housing fits my hands better than the flat housing on my STI. Is it wrong to want to shoot Norinco more than STI?:D

I got my Norc 30 minutes ago and look what happened. Boy, I hope I can get it back together again.

Holy crap! Lots of little pieces to loose!! I just got mine the other day. This is my first 1911. Do I have to strip it down all the way like you to clean the grease off?? If so, I'll never get it back together again!!

It's best to detail strip. Teaches you alot about it. But you dont absolutely have to.

You could do it the lazy way and just takes off the slide and clean that, the bore, and anything you can reach. Then just spray lube everywhere, and in every hole.

But again detail strip is better.
