Please recommend me a .45ACP revolver

S.T.I.'s Texican is worth a look. It isn't available from the factory with a .45ACP cylinder, as far as I know, though I'm sure one could be fitted easily.

i had the convertible- first of all, the front sight was built WAY TOO HIGH- even with everything cranked out she still shot 8 inches low at 25 with the 45 colt cylinder installed- notice the lack of the word long?- that was with FACTORY loads - it was even worse with the acps, being lower velocity- i ended up using it as a 45 colt about 10x as much as the 45acp, but it's no trouble to change from one to the other- as far as the convertible goes, it's a gimmick- she could also shoot cloverleafs, just WAY LOW= got mine at wholesale sports, but they're not all that hard to come by- if you must have one, by all means get it, but the "magic" wears off very quickly- and i have 2 45 1911s-

Here's a picture of my two, yes they come with adjustable sights & the convertable has it's place. For about $50. more for that extra cylinder is a plus in my opinion to be able to shoot the acp cartridge.

I reamed the cylinder's chamber mouth's to .4525 as they were all different, from .4485 to .450. they were too tight for accurate shooting. I also altered the "pawl" so now I can rotate the cylinder either way while loading/unloading. It's what is called free-spin cylinder.Belt-Mountain base pins were installed the actions honed & trigger springs lightened.

My vote: S&W Model 25-2

S&W Model 25-2 [Model of 1955 Target] is the one you really want to have. Especially if it has the 6 1/2" factory pinned barrel and Patridge front site...... It's truely .45ACP / .45 Auto Rim shooting heaven!

even with the rear sight cranked up almost all the way-it might have been that particular tube, it still shot way low- others have had better results- however, it's well known in the cowboy circles that the front sight has to be filed- if the rear sight wasn't adjustable, you'd never to be able to compensate for the different points of impact either in different loads or different cylinders unless you made some marks for aimong in the frint sight and regulated it that way- ie the 45 acp would require a shorter front than the colt, being lower velocity- remember the front sight works reversly to the rear- ie the lower the vel, the shorter it should be
