Hi All,

Well, a friend of mine finally got his act together and got all the parts for his rifle: 10FCP McMillan, NightForce NSX 5.5-22, NightForce rings & Warne 20 MOA base. He'll be putting it all together tomorrow.

He's a bit stingy, so I'm considering getting him a bipod for X-Mas, since I know he won't do it on his own lol... I'm not really familiar with Harris (I use a Parker Hale), so I'd like to know which one is good for both prone and off the bench work?

Obviously, I'd also like to know where I can find it in stock... (CGN sponsors, don't be shy to chime in ;))

Thanks! :D

A 9-13" model would probably suit you well. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE SWIVEL MODEL.

If you don't you'll be kicking yourself after the first time shooting. Ask me how I know. :)

If mostly bench I'd go for the 6-9 personally. However if he's going a lot of prone he may find that too short, especially on uneven ground or in taller grass. You don't want something too tall for the bench, it will just make you less stable.

Edit: +1 on the swivel model

I can confirm that it will be mostly bench work, but since he has a small frame, the 9" might suit him just right for prone as well.

So 6-9", Swivel model... Are there any other options for these? Like in terms of whether they've got a QD attachment or something? He'll be using a swivel stud for mounting it.

If you're using a swivel stud, you don't need any QD feature, IMHO. You can replace the allen head tightening screw with a 'large head' one that you can tighten with your fingers.

bipods arent subject to import/export restrictions so ideally order from canada, but you can usually find US dealers that will ship to you as well without any problems

What about the ones with notches - is that a good feature? Does that work like Parker Hales, where you have a small release on each leg that you press to shorten the legs, and just pull to make them longer?

Sounds good - is the "Harris Bipods" site (first hit with Google) a decent place to get all this (they also sell the pod loc)? Or is there something closer/faster/cheaper?

Harris will not ship to Canada.

Go thru Brownells, they have the pod locs as well.

Cheers, Carl

AEI carries the Harris S-BRM 6-9 Notch Leg, $143.25. (and only that model).

And that's all the shilling I'm doing today. I feel like I'm running an infomercial between this and the ADM scope mount post. ;)

I've got the same rifle and have the 9-13" model with the swivel.

For bench work I prefer to use a dedicated front rest, but the bipod works pretty wel.

I like the 9-13" swivel model L. For me at 9" it's just perfect off the bench or prone for that matter. You can ask 50 different people this question and you're going to get 40 different answers.

According to your site, it's the 9-13 model and it seems to sell for $123.25... Is the site out of date or inaccurate? Here's the link to the page: http://www.armseast.com/accessories.html

VersaPod.

No comparison

Maybe, but I think I've given the PRC enough of my money ;):runaway:

If you're taller or large frame I'd go with the 9-13", if you are short to average height go with the 6-9", and definitely get the swivel version.

Yeah, like I said my friend has a smaller frame...
